NYFW SS16: Proenza Schouler

Ruffles and a colour palette consisting of mainly black, red and white brought to mind the passion of flamenco although Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez cited a rather interesting fruit as inspiration. Clothes that “peeled away from the body—like a banana,” explained Hernandez, resulted in plenty of necklines that fell away from the body, baring the shoulders. Broderie anglaise, feathers and metal grommets (a carryover feature from A/W’15) lent plenty of texture to the collection. Faces were nude and hair parted down the middle and pulled back into straightforward braids, allowing for the clothes to take centre stage.
