NYFW SS16: Carolina Herrera

Ladylike splendour

NYFW SS16: Carolina Herrera

Carolina Herrera loosened up her buttons at her rose-decked Spring/Summer 2016 show in the Frick art museum by offering a dreamy confection of pastel pinks, fuchsias and the occasional pristine white and clean black—all in flirty flocks, elegant ballgowns and a reinterpretation of her signature shirtdresses.

It was a show that was ladylike enough with a hint of sensuality: peekaboo pleats, sheer tulle panelling, high slits and short hemlines. What was outstanding about her collection was the way she’d worked her materials and textures, from organza, transparent mesh to neoprene—in a way, making it current yet treading the fine line between daintily sweet and sophisticated chic.
