The best of PFW SS19 day 6: Altuzarra’s seashell belts

Inspired by his own memories of spending his holidays in Italy, Joseph Altuzarra referenced Call Me by Your Name and Stealing Beauty—movies about summer love—and sent down a collection that aimed to evoke that same feeling. Models were in sun-kissed makeup and wet slicked-back hair, dressed in a plethora of floral motifs and woven pieces that radiated that sense of ease—tops and dresses were mostly unbuttoned or cropped for some skin-flaunting. To complement the entire vibe, nautical details were incorporated into the collection. There were pearl earrings adorning the models’ lobes, and woven bags that’ll give straw bags a run for their money. Our favourite among them? The rope belts with dangling seashells. Aside from accentuating one’s waist, the swaying details help to add that flair to your every walk, completing the coastal theme. The belt is available in the form of necklaces too—reminiscent of the ’90s seashell necklaces, but this time, we’ll wear them in a heartbeat.
