From bags to sunglasses, these are the items we’re looking forward to wearing (and flaunting) once we #flattenthecurve

What’s the first thing you’ll do once the Movement Control Order is over? If you’re a self-proclaimed fashion lover and your answer is “retail therapy”, we feel you, and we’re here to help soothe the shopping itch in the meantime. Below, we’ve highlighted some of the new accessory launches that you should be making a mental note of, and to feast your eyes on as we all keep calm and wait:

Louis Vuitton Escale

Dreaming of an island getaway? Although travel plans will be on hold for some time, you can still look the part with Louis Vuitton’s Escale collection. Inspired by shibori, a traditional Japanese textile that’s twisted and knotted before dyeing, the vibrant line is filled with tie-dye motifs that are meant for the beach and beyond.

If you’re virtually shopping around for a new bag, its classic favourites—Neverfull tote, Speedy, Keepall, and Néo Noé—are all given a pick-me-up in different colourful combinations; seaside shoes including flat mules, sandals, and wedges all come the traditional colour of shibori, indigo; while accessories including sunglasses and silk bandeaus will seal your vacay look in style.

An item to note? The Onthego tote that’s exclusively embroidered with a holiday destination. Pick your favourite from the 25 cities available, including Mykonos, Capri, Hawaii, Okinawa, Phuket, and more.

The collection is now available online or via its app.

Salvatore Ferragamo Viva

If you’re already a fan of Salvatore Ferragamo’s Vara flats, trust us when we say that you’ll love its new offering even more. Dubbed the Viva, the design is a “modernized upgrade” of the iconic shoe, which features a pointy-toe design with a sculptural block heel. The bow is upsized, and instead of the metallic details, it’s constructed in the same material as the rest of the shoe—be it leather, denim, or linen canvas.

“Viva is an encapsulation of Ferragamo’s future, one that is inclusive, dynamic and progressive. It is also rooted in the best of what we as a family artisanal house have long worked to be,” as creative director Paul Andrew explains in the press release. The result? A collection of super-chic footwear that connects the Italian brand’s past, present, and future. The Viva flats are offered in two styles—classic or ruffled—and two heights—mid or low—in almost 60 variations.

Chanel SS20 eyewear

From tinted frameless sunnies to oversized boho frames, when it comes to eyewear trends this year, there are no shortage of eye-catching designs that’ll shade our peepers in style. But instead of OTT details and the boldest of colours, Chanel’s sunglasses picks this Spring/Summer 2020 are surprisingly pared back, but that doesn’t mean they’re not equally trendy. The monochrome hued collection features details that are not to be missed.

In its recently unveiled eyewear campaign featuring four of its muses—Belgian singer-songwriter Angèle, actresses Isabelle Adjani and Margaret Qualley, and musicians Sébastian Tellier and Pharrell William—they each picked their favourite frames that complement their style.

For Angèle, transparent oval sunnies that come with a necklace of grey faux pearls (the “grandma” trend we can totally get behind); Isabelle, a large square frame that is classic yet screams “star power” like no other; butterfly-shaped sunglasses with a string of white faux pearls on Margaret; Pharrell, an oversized rectangular design with woven tweed-like embellishment on the temples; and the most striking pair of them all—an XL shield lined with the fashion house’s iconic tweed—as seen on Sébastian.

Burberry Pocket bag

The Spring/Summer 2020 runways have seen the introduction of many new bags, and the Burberry Pocket bag is one of the many that has caught our attention. Taking reference from its own archive, the focal point of the canvas carriers—lined with topstitched leather—is the logo stamp, which are perfect for those who are still on the logomania train. Aside from toting it, the carriers also come with a detachable shoulder strap if you’d like to go hands-free.

Loewe Horseshoe bag

If you prefer something less structured, the Loewe Horseshoe bag might just be what you’re looking for. Following the introduction of some of its most popular designs including the Puzzle, the Hammock, and not too long ago, the Gate, Jonathan Anderson unveiled a new bag this Spring/Summer 2020 that’s inspired by the brand’s Spanish heritage.

Aside from taking references from the shape of a horseshoe, the silhouette is also reminiscent of the classic Spanish castagnettes—a percussion instrument that’s used in Spanish music. The material? A smooth calfskin frame that surrounds a soft nappa drawstring sac that’s similar to the Balloon bucket bag. The design is complete with a side latched metallic pin that can be found in the Gate crossbody.

Jimmy Choo Eyewear

Jimmy Choo is also giving us stylish eyewear options to flaunt out and about once we #flattenthecurve. Its Spring/Summer 2020 collection is made up of an array of trendy sunglasses and optical glasses, from oversized shield designs and half-frames, to an updated version of its famous Andie sunnies (rimless with embellishment), to the most noteworthy of them all—the Shine sunnies in metal frames that feature a clip-on that’s adorned with Swarovski crystals. It’s another “grandma” trend we can get behind.
