Kim Soo Hyun breaks his silence on Kim Sae Ron scandal

Kim Soo Hyun has officially broken his silence on his controversy involving the late Kim Sae Ron in an emergency press conference held today at 4:30pm KST. The actor did not allow for a separate Q&A session with journalists and read from his prepared statement.
The Queen of Tears actor reaffirmed that he did not date Kim Sae Ron when she was a minor, but when she was of legal age, back in 2020. The relationship lasted a year. This directly challenges Kim Sae Ron’s letter found by her parents, which stated that she dated him for 6 years when she was 15 and he was 28.
On denying the relationship when pictures of them first surfaced, Kim explained, “Even when Queen of Tears was airing, I had a lot to protect as the male lead. I wondered what might happen if I admitted to having been in a relationship with the deceased. What will happen to the cast? The staff working hard day and night? The production company that invested in the show?”

“Every time there was a clash between Kim Soo Hyun as a human being and Kim Soo Hyun as a celebrity, I ended up making the best decision for the celebrity Kim Soo Hyun.”
Further, Kim denied any involvement that led to the late child actress’s tragic passing. “It is also untrue that the late actor resorted to a tragic decision because I turned away from her or the agency pressured her about repaying her debt.”
The actor also stated that videos and chats that the deceased’s family released in a previous press conference were manipulated and contained errors. “I will accept whatever criticism about my choices,” Kim said. “But that does not mean everything becomes fact. I will take action against the evidence the family of the deceased is releasing…” His lawyer closed the press conference by stating they will be filing a lawsuit against the bereaved family for 12 billion won.
