Catch up with the latest in beauty headlines this week, including store openings and roadshows by Dyson and Laneige respectively, a new makeup collaboration with a late fashion legend, and the most unexpected hair colour that celebrities are sporting this season.

Dyson Demo Lab opens in Queensbay Mall, Penang

Laneige’s Water Bank Avenue takes centre stage in Pavilion Kuala Lumpur

You’ve read all about this bestselling skincare duo from Laneige, and you even followed us (via Instagram) on our trip to Shanghai for a first look at this launch. But now, you can see, touch and experience this new range firsthand in Pavilion Kuala Lumpur at the brand’s Water Bank Avenue.

A load of fun awaits at the roadshow, including a photo studio for the best IG shots, personal beauty analyses with the help of pros, lucky draws, promotional sets and more. Worth checking out is Laneige’s Waterful Sharing campaign, an annual CSR initiative to raise funds to provide easier access to cleaner water resources in rural communities.

RM10 from each sale of Laneige Water Bank Hydro or Moisture Cream EX will be directed to the fund to aid the installation of water pipes, pumps and filtration systems in rural villages. Drop by the Water Bank Avenue in Pavilion KL Centre Court from now to 30 June 2019 for more.

Karl Lagerfeld collaborates with L’Oréal Paris

The late fashion maestro’s legacy lives on and has now spilled over to the beauty scene. Lagerfeld had talked of a collaboration with L’Oréal Paris before his sudden passing earlier this February, with a makeup range inspired by his “rock-chic style, fused with a sense of Parisian elegance,” according to WWD.

This one-time collection will be available online in mid-September with a worldwide launch date set for September 27 during Paris Fashion Week. This isn’t the first time that Lagerfeld’s namesake label has collaborated with other brands—the first beauty collab was with Sephora back in 2011, followed by Shu Uemura’s holiday collection a year later and in 2014.

This shaving brand is making hair removal a personal choice

American shaving brand Billie has a new ad campaign and it’s championing the personal choice of growing out body hair (despite the obvious irony here). Proudly labelling itself as “the first women’s razor brand to show hair”, Billie launched its #ProjectBodyHair campaign featured models with underarm and pubic hair as an attempt to make body hair more acceptable—read: a norm—in society, especially for women.

While the reactions to this brave narrative ranged from awe to disgust (it’s a wide spectrum), we’re more concerned about the hygiene aspects behind this movement. After all, underarm and pubic hair are common breeding grounds for bacteria, which in turn increases the likelihood of smelly perspiration. Let’s just say we’re all for clean pits/nether regions that don’t reek.

Celeb hair sightings

Solange Knowles rocks the coolest hair at Kenzo SS20

Solange Knowles performed for Carol Lim and Humberto Leon’s swan song for Kenzo two days ago, and the fitting tribute came with a head-turning look by the singer. Sporting a structural braided hairdo that complemented her gorgeous Kenzo floral dress, Knowles knocked it out of the ballpark as she performed an original composition.

Created by hairstylist and editor Jawara Wauchope, the avant-garde hairdo was actually suggested by Knowles herself (as though we need any more reason to get inspired by her). “She wanted something with structure, like a sculpture, and she wanted to be able to see the detail from afar, that would go great with the look Kenzo designed for her,” says Wauchope.

Rihanna reps flaming-red locks…

After debuting box braids in the same shade at the launch of her fashion label with LVMH, Rihanna pulled off this hue once again at the recent BET Awards. But RiRi fans are delving deep into the reason behind her burgundy locks—that she’s about to drop new music with her fresh tresses. No official announcement has been made regarding a new album just yet, but whatever it is that she’s launching (from makeup drops to fashion must-cops), we’re all ears (and eyes).

… and so does Zendaya

Another star hopping on the red-hair bandwagon is Zendaya, who also debuted Ariel-hued locks more than a week ago at the Spider-Man: Far From Home movie premiere. But we can’t get enough of her recent look—a summer-ready outfit with an oversized headband in matching, traffic-stopping orange. Whoever said redheads can’t wear orange needs to take notes from the Disney alumna.
