Met Gala 2025: The Must-See Beauty Moments From the Red Carpet
All eyes on the Met

As the stars shine on the 2025 Met Gala red carpet, we’re highlighting the most unforgettable beauty trends that stole the spotlight.
Each year, the Met Gala transforms the steps of the Metropolitan Museum of Art into fashion’s most theatrical stage—and in 2025, beauty proved just as much a storyteller as the couture. This year’s theme introduced the Costume Institute’s spring exhibition, Superfine: Tailoring Black Style, a powerful exploration of Black dandyism across the centuries.
The gala’s dress code, Tailored for You, encouraged guests to take a personal, interpretive approach to the theme that spotlighted the artistry, pride, and cultural legacy behind Black fashion. Co-chaired by Colman Domingo, Lewis Hamilton, A$AP Rocky, Pharrell Williams, and Anna Wintour, with LeBron James serving as honorary chair, the evening celebrated excellence, individuality, and creative freedom.
Beyond the bespoke suiting and archival homages, it was the beauty looks that tied everything together. Smokey eyes returned with dramatic flair, kiss curls and micro bangs revived retro sensibilities, and minimalist lips gave way to powerfully understated finishes.
Ahead, we round up the standout beauty trends from the 2025 Met Gala.
1. SMOKEY EYES

Smokey eyes made a striking return at the 2025 Met Gala, reimagined with softer, more nuanced shades of warm browns and deep greys. The result? A sultry, dramatic effect that added mystery and depth. Many stars kept their eyes as the focal point, opting for minimalist makeup elsewhere to let their peepers shine. Zendaya showcased bronzed smokey eyes, while Emma Chamberlain opted for a vampy, noir-inspired look with smoky plum and violet hues. For a sleek edge, Teyana Taylor sported bronzy makeup and smokey winged eyeliner.
2. GLOSSY LIPS

Ultra-glossy lips emerged as a defining beauty statement throughout the evening, with celebrities embracing the look in various ways. Doechii sported a black cherry glossy lip that complemented her voluminous afro and oversized bow tie, reflecting the bordeaux hue of her ensemble. Meanwhile, Whitney Peak opted for a classic red glossy lip which paired seamlessly with her custom Chanel outfit. The high-shine finish added a radiant glow, giving her lips a fuller, more youthful appearance.
3. KISS CURLS

Kiss curls were a big hit on the red carpet this year, adding a vintage flair to the evening’s standout beauty looks. The delicate, face-framing tendrils—rooted in 1920s style—were reimagined with a modern edge. Simone Biles paid tribute to Josephine Baker with sculpted kiss curls, featuring a gelled baby hair swirl and a glossy finish courtesy of K18’s Molecular Repair Hair Oil. Sydney Sweeney embraced Old Hollywood glamour with a slicked-back bun adorned with three glossy kiss curls and a subtle side part. Even co-chair A$AP Rocky nodded to retro glamour with finger wave-inspired hair.
4. BOLD POPS OF COLOUR

While neutral tones dominated much of the gala, some stars broke the mold with bold pops of colour on the eyes. Chappell Roan stunned with a disco-inspired look that featured shimmering silver eyeshadow, sharp eyeliner, and pink tear trails. Meanwhile, Doja Cat sported pastel eyeshadow, complemented by a crimson lip and a teased-updo for an ‘80s-inspired look. Cardi B opted for dramatic green eyeshadow and matching contacts, which paired perfectly with her Victorian-inspired Burberry suit.
5. CHIC BOBS

The 2025 Met Gala was a celebration of the bob, with this daring yet chic hairstyle taking centre stage. It proved to be the versatile go-to hairstyle of the evening, with each star bringing their own unique spin to the trend. Pamela Anderson turned heads with her chin-length bob paired with micro bangs, while Zoe Saldaña embraced a sharp, cropped bob for polished elegance. Meanwhile, Angel Reese rocked a sleek bob with flicked-out ends, adding a playful retro touch to her overall look.
