Beauty buzz: Emily Ratajkowski and Kaia Gerber go blonde, Ariana Grande’s floral eyelashes are a look and more

It’s been a wild week–seemingly every celebrity has gone blonde, Millie Bobby Brown’s hair has grown by around 14 inches in three months, Post Malone has had another quarantine cut and it doesn’t end there. Read on to find out all the goss!

This week in celebs going blonde post-lockdown

The lockdown may be over but the pandemic sure isn’t. Regardless, looks like these celebrities are tired of their quarantine ‘dos and are looking for something new. Cue in… bleached vibes.

Millie Bobby Brown gets a blon-bre (blonde ombre)…

… and she adds a couple inches of length to it too! It’s not the first time we’ve seen these super-long extensions on Brown, but it’s certainly the clearest. Either way, it’s a look.

Emily Ratajkowski’s cream blonde is perfection

Emily Ratajkowski’s blonde makeover is courtesy of Kerastase, and it’s clear from the video that’s she’s feeling herself—with good reason, too. The golden blonde doesn’t wash her out, thanks to the significant shadow root she’s sporting.

Kaia Gerber goes cream soda blonde

Bye bye brunette—it’s blonde time. The model looked almost recognisable with her newly-dyed tresses. What’s your take on her blonde ‘do: yay or nay?

This week in other celebrity beauty news…

Ariana Grande goes full-on floral for her birthday look

The superstar celebrated her 27th birthday with a Midsommar-inspired lewk that was nothing short of understated. She donned falsies decked with dainty flower petals that complemented her sizeable floral headpiece—bringing a whole new meaning to floral crowns.

Post Malone goes bald

The poor lad’s hair has been through a lot this quarantine (remember the mullet?). But it looks like he’s decided to put it out of its misery and shave it all off instead. Real talk: did you know he had a skull there? We sure didn’t.

This week in nails

Lucy Hale’s daisy nail art is the perfect accessory for summer

Her talons are the handiwork of celebrity nail artist Thuy Nyugen; the minimalistic design is what we’ve been craving amidst the crowds of yellow neon nails.

This week in brand announcements

Urban Decay champions representation with its new trio of Global Citizens

Urban Decay has appointed singer Normani, Riverdale actress Camila Mendes and Hong Kong singer-songwriter G.E.M. as the faces of its new Naked Ultraviolet eyeshadow palette, with a video campaign featuring Normani and Mendes painting the town red purple as they rock the palette’s 12 stunning shades.

In Normani’s caption on her Instagram post, she lauded the brand’s ethos that upholds inclusivity and diversity. “They have trail-blazed and challenged the industry’s definition of beauty since the beginning. They stand with marginalised groups by showing that makeup should be and can be inclusive for everyone. We need to celebrate beauty in every colour. We need representation across the beauty industry and I hope to use my platform to amplify the voices of my community.”

Urban Decay Naked Ultraviolet eyeshadow palette (RM245) is now available online and in-stores at Sephora.

Johnson & Johnson to stop selling skin whitening products

The brand’s whitening products have been accused of perpetuating the widespread bias towards fairer skin for years, but it looks like the recent resurgence of the Black Lives Matter movement has been sufficient to get them to take action.

Since their announcement, the brand has received mixed criticism from its Asian customers, with some praising the move as a “step towards true anti-racism” and others claiming that the move “infringes on their rights to do as they wish with their body”.

Clé de Peau Beauté announces their initiative with UNICEF

This July, Clé de Peau Beauté will be donating a portion of their global sales of its iconic The Serum to UNICEF’s varying education programmes for girls. So, not only can you get the skin of your dreams, but you can help young girls around the world achieve theirs too. Find out more about their initiative here!

L’Oreal Paris announces Katherine Langford as their newest International Spokesperson

Katherine Langford, by L’Oreal Paris

The Aussie-born star of Netflix’s 13 Reasons Why is the newest face of the brand. The announcement went as follows: “We are thrilled to welcome Katherine to the L’Oreal Paris family. She is a role model, a talented and confident young woman using her platform for positive influence. Katherine’s star will only continue to rise. As a young radiant heroine who encourages people to believe in themselves, she’s the perfect spokesperson to embody our signature brand message: we are all worth it.”

The announcement comes just a few weeks after the brand came under fire in the wake of the BLM resurgence for their treatment of British model Munroe Bergdorf in 2017.
