The lockdown may be over but the pandemic sure isn’t. Regardless, looks like these celebrities are tired of their quarantine ‘dos and are looking for something new. Cue in… bleached vibes.

Urban Decay champions representation with its new trio of Global Citizens

Urban Decay has appointed singer Normani, Riverdale actress Camila Mendes and Hong Kong singer-songwriter G.E.M. as the faces of its new Naked Ultraviolet eyeshadow palette, with a video campaign featuring Normani and Mendes painting the town red purple as they rock the palette’s 12 stunning shades.

In Normani’s caption on her Instagram post, she lauded the brand’s ethos that upholds inclusivity and diversity. “They have trail-blazed and challenged the industry’s definition of beauty since the beginning. They stand with marginalised groups by showing that makeup should be and can be inclusive for everyone. We need to celebrate beauty in every colour. We need representation across the beauty industry and I hope to use my platform to amplify the voices of my community.”

Johnson & Johnson to stop selling skin whitening products

The brand’s whitening products have been accused of perpetuating the widespread bias towards fairer skin for years, but it looks like the recent resurgence of the Black Lives Matter movement has been sufficient to get them to take action.

Since their announcement, the brand has received mixed criticism from its Asian customers, with some praising the move as a “step towards true anti-racism” and others claiming that the move “infringes on their rights to do as they wish with their body”.
