Charlize Theron’s new hair cut is 2019’s biggest trend, Hilary Duff has a makeup collection and more beauty news

In this week’s beauty news, Charlize Theron and Harry Styles prove that the bowl cut is this year’s most popular hairstyle (right after Timothée Chalamet’s recent hair transformation in The King), Hilary Duff releases a new makeup collection in collaboration with Nudestix, Kate Middleton‘s new hair colour is absolute #goals and you’d never guess what Justin Bieber’s new deodorant smells like.

Charlize Theron looks fly af in her new bowl cut

Timothée Chalamet isn’t the only star repping a bowl cut this month. Charlize Theron most recently gave us a glimpse of her comeback look as villain Cipher in the upcoming “Fast & Furious 9”, and it’s nothing short of jaw-dropping—an ultra-blunt bowl cut courtesy of hairstylist Adir Abergel.

In his Instagram post, he referenced an image (shot by the late Peter Lindbergh) of ’90s supers Linda Evangelista and Cindy Crawford for the hairdo—dare we say that Theron rocked the heck out of this look without a flaw in place?

Hilary Duff has a new makeup line with Nudestix

Shortly after news of her reprisal of role Lizzie McGuire, Hilary Duff is making headlines once more with a makeup collaboration with Nudestix. The 31-year old actress and mother-of-two, who invested in the brand earlier this year, has a capsule range that includes a palette, blush, highlighter, eye colours and a lip-and-cheek balm.

In an interview with WWD, she stated: “I’m a California girl and everything is like, bronze-y and golden, and I’m sick of that. I want my [fall] sweater and I want pearlised tones. The colors were a nod to the fall. There are a lot of pink and ethereal tones in there.”

The collection drops September 10 in USA, although there are no further updates on the availability of this collection in Sephora Malaysia—we’ll be keeping our eyes and ears peeled for more updates.

Lucy Boynton blows us away with another fetching makeup look

Lucy Boynton can do no wrong in our books. With the ability to pull off the edgiest of mini-makeup trends, the 25-year old actress wows us once more with another eye-catching makeup look—this time red-on-red with a modern twist.

Makeup artist Jo Baker created a floating crease in crimson, coupled with elongated flicks on the lower lash line and copious amounts of mascara (in the same shade) on the lower lashes. The finishing touch was a slick of red on her lips—intentionally monochromatic to match the red lettering on Boynton’s top.

Tracee Ellis Ross launches a haircare brand

Tracee Ellis Ross dabbles in beauty with her first ever beauty label, Pattern. The haircare brand is tailor-made for tresses that are curly, coily and tight-textured, and it has been in the works for more than a decade.

In her Instagram post, Ross explained that Pattern is the result of “20 years of dreaming…and 2 years of working with chemists. The formulas are unique and packed with luscious and safe ingredients—trust me I know, because my panel and I tried 74 different samples to get these 7 formulas for phase one.”

The first “phase” of Pattern’s launch comprises three conditioners, two hair serums and a leave-in-conditioner, with the official drop date scheduled for 9 September.

Justin Bieber has a deodorant now

Justin Bieber is also dipping his toes in beauty, specifically grooming, with a new gender-neutral deodorant in collaboration with Schmidt’s Naturals. The American natural beauty brand is known for its activated charcoal deodorants that are aluminium-free, and Bieber’s deodorant (Here + Now) is the first sensitive-skin variation of the brand’s bestseller.

The singer reportedly picked out the essential oils in this deodorant and had a hand in designing the packaging. The Here + Now deodorant launches in October 1, although Beliebers can already get their hands (and pits) on it from now till 7 September on the website.

Harry Styles also got a bowl cut…and fans are freaking out

Can we say that the bowl cut is perhaps 2019’s most popular hairdo? Timothée Chalamet may have done it first, and then Charlize Theron, but another star who’s now joining the bowl-wagon is none other than former One Direction member Harry Styles.

A recent photo in Italy (took by a fan) showed Harry Styles’ hair—and it definitely doesn’t look like his signature shaggy, lengthier look. The dramatic hair transformation had both a fair share of love and hate from fans, some deeming it cute while others going ham.

Kate Middleton’s new hair colour makes headlines

Another celebrity hair transformation that caught our attention is Kate Middleton. The Duchess of Cambridge made an appearance with her equally photogenic family on Princess Charlotte’s first day of school, showing off her freshly-dyed honey-brown hair. A few shades lighter from her signature brunette, the duchess’ hair also sported some extra layers to give her ‘do more dimension—overall a winning look that complemented her fall-ready getup.
