RIP Peter Lindbergh: Meghan Markle, ’90s supermodels and more stars pay tribute to late fashion photographer

Peter Lindbergh, esteemed fashion photographer whose signature black-and-white portraits are some of the most iconic images in fashion, has passed away at 74 years old. A statement on his official Instagram account reads: “It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Peter Lindbergh on September 3^rd 2019, at the age of 74. He is survived by his wife Petra, his first wife Astrid, his four sons Benjamin, Jérémy, Simon, Joseph, and seven grandchildren. He leaves a big void.”

The German photographer was responsible for revolutionising supermodels of the ’90s, so naturally, the models—Naomi Campbell, Linda Evangelista, Kate Moss, Cindy Crawford, and more—took to Instagram to honour the legend and the legacy he left behind. Aside from that, tributes from Hollywood A-listers including Charlize Theron, Rihanna, and David Beckham also poured in. In particular, Meghan Markle‘s made a statement on the Sussex Royal account saying he will be “deeply missed”.
