7 Malaysian beauty brands every lipstick lover should check out

The local beauty scene in Malaysia has seen an influx of new and exciting brands that are offering everything from liquid lipsticks to all-natural skincare products. If you’re on the lookout for new lipsticks that come in MLBB shades, consider these seven homegrown makeup brands that might wow you:

Duck Cosmetics

Launched with a bang by homegrown #BossGirl and entrepreneur Vivy Yusof, Duck Cosmetics offers a plethora of makeup products from eyeshadow palettes to hair mists. Take your pick from matte and gloss lip colour options—all paraben-free and packed with Vitamin E and olive oil for a nourishing pout.

SO.LEK Cosmetics

Halal-certified beauty brand SO.LEK Cosmetics is founded by Dahlia Nadirah, who wanted to her label to reflect her Malaysian heritage while catering for beauty enthusiasts who don’t want to break the bank. All the products come with snazzy Malaysian names (from local fruits to musical instruments), and bestsellers include their BB cushions and soft-matte liquid lipsticks.

Les Cosmetics

Backed by local influencer twins Cherrie Liong and Evangeline Yan, Les Cosmetics currently carries matte liquid lipsticks that are 100% cruelty-free, vegan-friendly and formulated in Italy. With only four shades available for now, the lipsticks are ultra-pigmented and weightless on the lips (read our editor’s review here).

Breena Beauty

Founded in 2014 by beauty blogger Sabrina Tajuddin, Breena Beauty carries a plethora of makeup products from transfer-proof liquid lipsticks to blending sponges and brushes. The bestselling Velvetcreme Matte Liquid Lipsticks come in 18 super pigmented, delectable shades that look as good as it tastes.

Nita

One thing to love about Nita’s lip colours is that it’s made for hypoallergenic skin across all skin tones. Try the Moist Jumbo sticks for a hydrating pigmented finish, or go for Matte Lipsticks and Liquid Lipsticks if you prefer a matte look.

The brand also has a wide range of skincare and cosmetics, including foundation, setting sprays and eyeshadow palettes.

Orkid Cosmetics

Another halal-certified lipstick brand with local roots is Orkid Cosmetics. The vegan, non-toxic and cruelty-free label’s bestselling liquid lipstick comes in versatile shades ranging from blush pink to brick red, and each product is formulated with high-quality pigments imported from Europe.

Velvet Vanity Cosmetics

Velvet Vanity Cosmetics is touted to be the first beauty brand in Malaysia that is 100% vegan, cruelty-free and approved by the Ministry of Health Malaysia. Its bestseller is Glo With The Flo, a two-in-one, water-based tint that can be used for the lips and cheeks for a highly-pigmented flush. If you’re into matte liquid lipsticks, go with their moisturising lip colours that come in a range of shades.
