4 Celebrities ‘Face the Wild’ with SK-II and National Geographic

Some of the most beautiful places on earth are also some of the most extreme. In a test of the mind, body and spirit (and skin!), ‘Face the Wild, Face the Camera Extreme Expeditions’ captures four personalities battling some of the world’s toughest environments.

The series of short vignettes presented by SK-II and the National Geographic features award-winning actress Kasumi Arimura, global fashion icon Chiara Ferragni, celebrated Chinese actress Nini and South Korean’s top actress and national boxer Lee Si Young. From an oppressively hot jungle in Japan to a parched desert in America, these women were subjected to the harshest conditions where each had to put herself and her skin to the test.

Kasumi Arimura went on assignment in the oppressively hot and dense Yanbaru jungle in Okinawa, Japan with harsh UV rays, sweltering heat and biting insects.

Chiara Ferragni explored one of the acrid places in Western America – the scorching Anza Borrego Desert where she had to fight dehydration, dizziness and dry heat.

Nini endured a challenging trek through a frozen and moisture-less mountain range in Northern China with bitterly cold sub-zero temperatures and arid conditions.

Lee Si Young took on Indonesia’s Ijen Volcano, one of the most stunning yet dangerous locations on earth with its harmful sulphurous fumes.

In the ‘Face the Wild’ segment, National Geographic Explorer, Hannah Reyes documents and explores diverse ecosystems, topographies and cultures with the four celebrities. While in the ‘Face the Camera’ segment, the four ladies gamely take on a one-of-a-kind beauty shoots with notable fashion photographers, Jesper McIlroy and Kirk Cheung to see if their skin had truly withstood the extremities with the help of the SK-II Facial Treatment Essence. SK-II’s iconic essence contains over 90 percent Pitera—a natural bio-ingredient that has vitamins, amino acids and minerals to help skin retain its natural functions.
