BURO Watch List: 5 Timepieces To Bring You Back to the Future
Time capsules

It is no secret that collector’s couture has taken over the conversation this year. From curated red carpet appearances to retro-inspired music videos, archival fashion has become a modern-day currency to boost the wearer’s net worth. Its sweeping influence signals that a larger shift across different domains is very much a matter of when, not if. But could this trend have already spilt over into other luxury segments, say, the world of horology? After all, five of the most noteworthy releases this year so far have been revivals of past icons.
TUDOR BLACK BAY CHRONO “CARBON 25”
Drawing from its long history with the world of motorsport, Tudor has reworked its Black Bay line with elements that combine speed and style. The new Black Bay Chrono “Carbon 25” parades a suite of impressive features, including the ultra-light carbon fibre case. Shedding more weight in pursuit of a race-car-like performance, the case has also been redesigned to be thinner than its stainless steel counterparts. Driving the point home is the domed “racing white” dial embellished with details from the 2025 Visa Cash App Racing Bulls Formula One Team car.

BREGUET TRADITION SECONDE RÉTROGRADE 7035
What better way for a watchmaker to celebrate its 250th anniversary than with a revival of a collection that encapsulates its haute horlogerie know-how? The Tradition Seconde Rétrograde 7035 carries forward the unique architecture of Breguet’s timepieces—exposed bridges, gears, and the like. But the main highlight here is the Breguet gold, an exclusive alloy to mark the occasion, that makes up the case. Framed within it is a guilloché grand feu enamel dial as well as a retrograde seconds display discreetly positioned between 10 and 11 o’clock.

TIFFANY & CO. ROPE WATCH
Nobody does jewellery watches quite like Tiffany & Co. and its Rope watch says as much. Revisiting the Rope design by Jean Schlumberger, whose idea derived from tassels, braids, and weaves, the house incorporates the twisted gold motif into the watch’s bezel. Here, two rings of rope in 18K yellow gold, separated by a circle of diamonds, enclose the glossy black dial. More than just a visual statement, the Rope watch comes with a solar-powered movement—a first for Tiffany—designed in tandem with Swiss movement manufacturer, La Joux-Perret.

GIRARD-PERREGAUX DEEP DIVER
Another watchmaker that’s big on the throwback trend is Girard-Perregaux. Paying homage to its storied past, the brand has reintroduced some of its renowned watches under the Legacy Editions banner, with the latest being the Deep Diver model. The limited reissue stays true to the 1969 original’s design DNA, especially with its cushion-shaped case and the retro-futuristic typography of the numerals. The bold dial design, on the other hand, is a nod to the 1971 edition. The new Deep Diver is powered by the GP03300 calibre, offering a minimum power reserve of 46 hours.

OMEGA RAILMASTER
The Railmaster, which debuted in 1957, has re-entered the public consciousness since Omega rebooted the collection at the turn of the millennium. This year, a new version in stainless steel has been released, and it boasts a novel black gradient on the grey dial. Holding firm to its original purpose—to ensure reliable precision for those who worked around rail lines—the watch retains its predecessor’s anti-magnetic properties. As a matter of fact, the Co-Axial Master Chronometer Calibre 8806 (and Small Seconds 8804) is 15 times more resistant.
