6 Watches and Jewellery Updates to Know This December
Wrap it up
December marks a whirlwind of events for the movers and shakers in the luxury scene. From high-profile ambassadorship deals to exclusive rollouts in anticipation of the impending Lunar New Year, the momentum in the realm of watches and jewellery this month shows no signs of stopping. That said, amidst all the excitement, some remarkable news seems to have gotten lost in the shuffle. But fret not! We are here to keep you up to speed.
LONGINES TAPS SITI SALEHA FOR AN EXCLUSIVE PARTNERSHIP
Longines has found its latest partner in style in homegrown actress Siti Saleha. Tapping into her timeless grace and poise, the Swiss watchmaker has commissioned a series of photographs that echo its ‘Elegance is an Attitude’ philosophy. Her debut, in which she sports the Conquest and The Longines Master Collection Moonphase watches, does just that. Saleha will be sharing more images with Longines timepieces on her social media in the coming months.
PANERAI DOES LESS FOR MORE IN THE LATEST LUMINOR WATCH
Panerai makes a case for minimalism in watchmaking with its latest endeavour. Debuted at Miami Design Week 2024, the Luminor GMT Power Reserve Ceramica PAM01674 sees the brand adopting the ‘less is more’ viewpoint with its monochromatic ceramic execution. The new Luminor stuns with an all-black colour scheme, anchored by the matt black sandwich dial. It is powered by the automatic P.9012 calibre and offers a power reserve of three days.
CARTIER INTRODUCES NEW TRINITY DESIGNS
ICYMI: The Trinity ring turns 100 this year and Cartier has spared no expense in commemorating this milestone. Along with its large-scale events, the Parisian luxury house has introduced new interpretations of the iconic design. The latest one sees the brand ending the celebration with a bang, incorporating animal motifs from its archive. Here, the panther spots embellish the yellow gold band, the tiger stripes rose gold, and the snake scales white gold.
ZENITH COLLABORATES WITH OPTICAL ARTIST FELIPE PANTONE
Zenith has mastered the art of watchmaking—the Defy Skyline Tourbillon Felipe Pantone One-Off is the latest example. Created with Valencia-based artist Felipe Pantone, the timepiece was put on display at Phillips New York for the TimeForArt auction and sold to benefit the Swiss Institute. Its design highlights include the striped dial, the opening at 6 o’clock that reveals the tourbillon mechanism, and the lightning bolt-shaped tourbillon bridge—a staple in Pantone’s body of work.
PIAGET CELEBRATES ITS 150TH ANNIVERSARY WITH A DEDICATED COLLECTION
What better way to celebrate a legacy of opulence than with some jewellery masterpieces? Essence of Extraleganza, launched in conjunction with Piaget’s 150th anniversary, brings a wealth of design marvels to the table. Built around the idea of ‘where Piaget’s past and present meet flamboyant,’ the collection recalls the boldness and vibrancy of the 1960s and 1970s. The Glowing Weave set is especially indicative of this vision with its unfettered use of emeralds.
LOUIS VUITTON DIALS UP THE DRAMA WITH ESCALE
Louis Vuitton has given the Escale a majestic makeover. Limited to only 50 pieces, the timepiece carries the air of 18th-century European elegance especially with its dial. The new Escale features a dial finely decorated with guilloché and grand feu enamel, using the rare champlevé and flinqué techniques. Another highlight here is the platinum case that houses the LFT023 calibre, which is visible through the sapphire caseback.
