All the well-loved hallmarks of the Portugieser remain intact. Formerly known as the Portuguese, the new edition of the timeless IWC-manufactured chronograph retains the appliquéd Arabic numerals, railway-track-style chapter ring and feuille hands but will now feature an even more purist dial and three fresh colourways.
A revamped Reference 3903 piece was unveiled to succeed the 3904 (that was launched in 2013). The new timepieces impressed with a pared back chapter ring that does away with the second subdivision, and modernised convex sapphire glass. An 18-carat red gold model suspended on brown alligator leads the pack. The other two feature stainless-steel cases and straps of black alligator. Blue hands and a silver-plated dial make up the more discreet model while a striking midnight blue dial stuns with rhodium-plated hands and appliqués.

Within, the tried-and-tested IWC-manufactured 89361 calibre with flyback function, self-winding system and a 68-hour power reserve, all sing of the brand’s technical reliability. A peek at the flip side reveals a see-through sapphire-glass back, offering perfect view of the movement.
