3 Malaysian talents get gilded in Cartier’s Juste un Clou collection

HEADLINE: 3 Malaysian talents get gilded in Cartier’s Juste un Clou collection as they reveal their creative inspirations

ENTRY: Watch rapper Zamaera, race car driver Jazeman Jaafar, and scrapbook artist Tercia Goh speak on the building blocks of their art form

Literally translated to ‘just a nail’, the Juste un Clou collection was created by jewellery designer Aldo Cipullo in 1971 and has since become a classic, instantly recognisable piece from Cartier. A reflection of Cipullo’s fascination for hardware (his self-proclaimed second home was the hardware store), the bracelet is a gracefully bent nail that wraps around the wrist for a bold and edgy take on refined jewellery that has been spotted on everyone from Kendall Jenner to Brooklyn Beckham.

This year, Cartier introduced its latest update to the Juste un Clou collection which boasts a slimmer and more flexible body, which makes the bracelet much easier to put on and perfect for stacking. Pair with different sizes for a play on dimension and don’t be afraid to break the rules—it’s all about mixing different colours of gold.

The Juste un Clou is a twist on a simple and familiar object, reinterpreted into something beautiful and precious—an iconic accessory that transcended time and trends. Prior to Cipullo’s breakthrough design, who would’ve thought the unassuming, humble construction nail could be so fashionable?

Take a deeper look into the building blocks of creation in its different forms: Music, movement and matter. Below 3 Malaysian talents tell us their origin stories and their forms of self-expression:

Tercia Goh, Journal and scrapbooking enthusiast A nomadic soul, Tercia logs her travels, memories and musings on paper to produce beautifully designed pages in her journals. Devoted to keeping analog experiences alive in the digital age, her daily thoughts and quotes are kind reminders to herself to look on the brighter side, and believes in turning negative energy into good vibes.

“I love the concept of using an innocuous object and turning it into a fashionable piece of refined jewellery”

Zamaera, Rapper

The young independent artist proudly hails from Subang Jaya (she’s got her city locked down on her Insta bio) and writes her own music with the aim of empowering women through her female anthems. Her debut single, Helly Kelly shot her to fame early this year and she’s been on a roll since, with four released singles under her belt. Her forthcoming EP is scheduled to drop later this year.

“Simple and iconic, the design is inspired by something so minimalistic and showcases industrial elegance. What a bold statement piece!”

His love for cars, focused drive and tenacity paved the way for a budding career in sportscar endurance racing. When he’s not on a race track, Jazemanlends his charismatic personality on screen as an official racing correspondent.
