YTL Hotels opens The Ritz-Carlton, Koh Samui and it’s gorgeous

Any place in Southeast Asia would make a great quick getaway. If Koh Samui is on your upcoming travel plans, know that The Ritz-Carlton, Koh Samui is now open and it holds a treasure chest of experiences that will intrigue you.

For starters, the resort, with 175 suites and pool villas, is nestled amid 58 acres of a former coconut plantation with an extensive oceanfront. As such, thought has been put into the design of the resort to combine contemporary architecture with the use of coconut and other natural materials such as ceramics to pay homage to the once-upon-a-time site. The result: A modern tropical charm.

Whether the aim for your getaway is to rejuvenate or to explore (or both), The Ritz-Carlton, Koh Samui offers something for everyone. Relax easily at Spa Village Koh Samui with its eight treatment suites, three massage pavilions, a yoga pavilion, health bar and a lap pool with intimate cabanas. On top of that, try out the Songkran Shower, a signature pre-spa ritual inspired by the annual Songkran festival.

Feeling adventurous? There’s a Muay Thai Gym where guests can learn the martial art with trained instructors; a curated journey combining a local market visit and southern Thai cooking class; and the one-of-a-kind temperate Swim Reef within the resort with over 50 species of fish. The Swim Reef is the largest of its kind in Southeast Asia and offers unique snorkelling and fish-feeding experiences. There are also two white sand beaches, a beachside resort pool, a water sports centre and two floodlit tennis courts. If you’re travelling with kids, The Ritz Kids programme will keep them entertained throughout the stay.

As for those with a large appetite for culinary offerings, there are seven dining experiences available with most of them synchronising with the flavours of southern Thai soul food. Last but not least, the Sala Thai, an elevated pavilion overlooking the Gulf of Thailand for wedding events (anyone looking for a destination wedding photographer?).

The opening of the resort joins YTL Hotels’ current portfolio in Thailand which includes The Surin Phuket and the luxurious Eastern & Oriental Express that travels from Singapore to Thailand.
