It’s been a long week, but hey, you’ve made it to the weekend! To celebrate, we’ve gathered quite the lineup of events and activities you can bring yourself and your favourite people to for some fun and relaxation. Whether you’re in the mood for some wine tasting, getting last-minute tickets to Ed Sheeran’s highly-anticipated concert, or looking for love this Chap Goh Mei, we’ve got your back with this latest instalment of the BURO Weekend Guide.

Ed Sheeran needs no introduction. The celebrated singer and songwriter of Perfect, Shape of You, and Bad Habits fame is bringing his The Mathematics Tour to Bukit Jalil National Stadium this weekend! Along with opening act Calum Scott, Sheeran is set to keep the crowd on their feet and singing their hearts out to his hit songs.

2. CELEBRATE COMMUNITY AT TRIPTYK’S FULL MOON OPEN HOUSE

Head over to Kampung Attap for a Sunday of community love and care. The day will start off with a cooking session for those in need and will continue with a puppet show, some hypnosis meditation, crystal readings, and more. While some activities require a fee, others operate based on donations. There will also be music performances to keep up the energy and a sound bath at the end of the day for some extra calm to tackle the incoming week.

Chap Goh Mei doesn’t just mark the end of the two-week Chinese New Year celebration period. Historically, it is also considered Valentine’s Day in Hokkien culture. On this day back in ancient China, you’d find young single women of marriageable age dressed in their best and walking through the streets to hopefully find love. To pay homage to the romance of the day, REXKL is hosting a day-long event comprising a speed dating session, traditional Chinese outfits, and musical performances.

4. BREAK BREAD AT FRITZ’S SUNDAY LUNCH

Fritz at The Troika is hosting its monthly Sunday lunch this coming weekend with a menu that takes you through the restaurant’s signature flavours. The meal kicks off with an olive and rosemary sourdough fougasse, a luxe seafood platter, and cold tomato soup. Following that, you’ll be treated to dishes such as escargot, confit lamb with chimichurri, and slow-roasted cod. Dessert comes in the form of beignets and flourless dark chocolate cake to end your weekend on a sweet note.

On the agenda are panel discussions featuring leaders in the industry, a styling workshop, a documentary screening, pop-up stores from local brands, and even fun quiz booths that you can take part in to truly make the most of the fashion-loving day.

6. GET IN TOUCH WITH THE ARTIST IN YOU AT LE ART SHOP’S LIFE DRAWING CLASS

For a little art challenge this weekend, join in on a communal art session on figure drawing this Sunday with Le Art Shop at Temu House. Open to guests of all skill levels, the session will be led by Cassie Wong—also known as Cassielelolea—who is a self-taught artist and founder of Le Art Shop. The entire two and a half hours will be dedicated to figure drawing, one of the pillars of art that centres around the human body. After a short briefing, you are left to your artistic devices to explore your capabilities.

A little wine never hurt anyone! Head on over to Podo Wine Outlet for a special tasting of a selected wine duo of Alexander VS The Ham Factory and Chateau Mont Perat 2020. The former is a full-bodied Tempranillo red wine with an elegant yet expressive bouquet, boasting fresh fruity notes with balsamic hints. The latter is a balanced Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot from France that has notes of blackcurrants, cherries, and plums with a silky tannic structure.
