BURO Spotlights: UOB Malaysia’s ‘For All You Love’ Gala Dinner

In November 2022, UOB completed its acquisition of Citigroup’s consumer banking businesses in four major ASEAN markets—Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam and Indonesia—thus boosting its position as the bank with the largest retail banking footprint and the top card issuer in the region. This expansion also paves the way for its enlarged customer base to enjoy additional perks and privileges tailored to their preferred lifestyles and needs. 

To celebrate this proud milestone, UOB Malaysia recently treated its top credit card customers, key business partners, and members of the media (including BURO) to an exclusive gastronomic experience at a gala dinner at The St Regis Kuala Lumpur.




Themed ‘For All You Love’, the gala dinner was organised simultaneously across Malaysia, Singapore and Thailand—whereby each market was treated to a six-course menu curated by a team of chefs from Michelin-starred restaurants and paired with fine wines rated above RP95 by Robert Parker Wine Advocate. It’s worth mentioning that UOB is the first bank to partner with the latter to offer an exquisite wine pairing Michelin-grade dinner as well as curated wine masterclasses for different levels of connoisseurs!

For the Malaysian market, the dinner was specially crafted by Chef Ryuki Kawasaki of two-Michelin-starred Mezzaluna in Bangkok, Thailand; Chef Vincent Thierry of two-Michelin-starred Chef’s Table in Bangkok, Thailand; and Chef Su Kim Hock of one-Michelin-starred Au Jardin in Penang, Malaysia. 



During the gala dinner, the Bank also unveiled its new regional card branding campaign involving a short film that highlighted the global reach of its card propositions and regional partnerships with key global brands. 

Shot by one of Asia’s leading commercial film directors, David Tsui, the film follows a dynamic couple who embark on a romantic journey to celebrate their anniversary by revisiting the city where they first met by accident—Barcelona, Spain. From a chance encounter at an ice cream stand at a plaza, they return to explore the city together while basking in their love of travel, shopping, and dining. 

It’s a story of exploration and discovery, of song and dance, of past memories and new ones—underscored by the plethora of offerings that UOB cardholders can enjoy worldwide. As the name of the campaign suggests, the film embodies the message that UOB cards are made ‘For All You Love’. The film will air on television channels across Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam.
