Newsflash: this weekend marks a new month and the beginning of the third quarter of 2023. On that note, it’s time to start planning your calendar ahead to fill the year with worthwhile memories. To help you get sorted, we’ve rounded up seven exciting things to do this weekend and beyond:

Where: Front Door @ Triptyk, 88, Jalan Tuba, Kampung Attap, 50460 Kuala Lumpur

You can help make a difference through food at Sharing Plates, a pop-up dining concept to showcase the talent of home chefs from the B40 community. Initiated by Engkita Project by Bay Laurel in order to help alleviate urban poverty, the event will take place for two days only at Front Door @ Triptyk, featuring an array of dishes prepared by three women from the community. Among the dishes on the menu include Solok Lada, Nasi Kerabu Kelate and Ginger Pesto Pasta, just to name a few.

When: Ilham After Dark — 1 July 2023, 8pm | Culture, Collaboration & Community: A Discussion on the Mat — 2 July 2023, 3pm – 5pm

Culture vultures, make your way to Ilham Gallery this weekend if you revel in discovering local talents and meeting like-minded individuals. There will be an Ilham After Dark session on Saturday by the Venopian Solitude, a 7-person band from Selangor that draws inspiration from an eclectic range of influences such as folk, rock, hip-hop, percussive, electronic, and traditional music. On Sunday, a cultural discourse is set to take place, followed by a walkthrough of the ‘Lift the tikar!’ exhibition and a book launch of Yee I-Lann’s ‘The sun will rise in the east’.

Calling fans of all things South Korean! The K Lifestyle Festival is taking centre stage at The Curve right now, transforming the mall into a hub of immersive Korean-themed experiences. Think K-pop, K-food, and K-culture activities where shoppers can explore the latest Korean fashion trends, have a taste of unique delicacies at Korean street food stalls, and try their hand at traditional Korean games. A key highlight of the festival is the K-Pop Dance Competition, with the finale set to take place on 1 July (Saturday).

5. Indulge in The Art of Drinking at Astor Bar

Each borough will be represented by an exclusive cocktail, which will be launched at the bar weekly. 

During the soft launch period, a recipe card will be given out for every purchase of the featured New York cocktail. 7. Travel through time ‘Beyond Mozart’ with the KLPAC String Orchestra

When: 30 June & 1 July 2023, 8.30pm | 2 July 2023, 3pm

Let the KLPAC String Orchestra take you on a musical adventure from the Classical Era through to the 20th Century with an enchanting performance titled Beyond Mozart. Under the baton of Andrea Sim, the orchestra will perform some of the prolific composer’s most prominent works such as The Marriage of Figaro Overture, Eine Kleine Nachtmusik and Ave verum corpus. Furthermore, the concert will also explore works by other international renowned composers such as Warlock’s Capriol Suite, Beethoven’s Symphony No. 5, Sibelius’ Impromptu for Strings, and more.
