In December 2015, Ed Sheeran announced a break from his virtual life on social media, stating he wanted to “travel the world and see everything I missed”, while reassuring fans that a third album is on the way and he’ll be back next autumn. Well, autumn passed, and if fans were anxious seeing no social updates from their favourite singer-songwriter—the wait is finally over. Exactly a year after that announcement, Sheeran flooded his social media accounts with the same shade of blue. No text, no hints, just blue.
But on New Year’s Day, he broke his silence on the Internet with great news for fans:
His new music will drop this Friday, 6 January at 5AM GMT. After his first two albums + and x, it seems the upcoming album will be called ÷, as Sheeran left yet another message on social media.
How is that for starting off the New Year on the right foot?
