There’s a new four-door coupé in Malaysia—and it’s the BMW 218i Gran Coupé M Sport

This year, BMW Malaysia has brought a plethora of vehicles into the country—from the M8 Gran Coupé to the X4 M Competition. Now, they have just introduced the first ever four-door coupé in the compact premium segment and it’s locally assembled. The introduction of the BMW 218i Gran Coupé M Sport is BMW’s way of rising above adversity during this era of certainty; and rightly so.

Powered by a 1.5-litre three-cylinder petrol engine and paired with a seven-speed Steptronic double-clutch transmission, the 218i Gran Coupé M Sport is said to be efficient for daily usage and yet powerful. In addition to having a maximum speed of 213 kilometres per hour, the sporty car can achieve the century sprint in 8.7 seconds. Fun fact: this is the first-ever compact BMW coupé to utilise a transverse engine placement.

On the outside, you will notice a newly-designed three-dimensional mesh single-unit kidney grille as well as slanted LED headlights and LED foglights. Its muscular appearance can also be credited to the 18-inch M light alloy wheels in double-spoke style 819M Bicolour with runflat tyres. As a standard, the BMW 218i Gran Coupé M Sport is fitted with the BMW Individual high-gloss Shadow Line and the M Aerodynamics package.

Now, let’s take thorough glimpse of the vehicle’s interior. In addition to illuminated trim finishers in Illuminated Boston and LED light sources, the variant also comes equipped with M leather steering wheel, sport seats with Leather Dakota upholstery, and two-zone automatic air conditioning system.

Other notable features include a 5.1-inch screen, an 8.8-inch touchscreen control display, and rev counter. Oh, there’s also the Telephony feature with wireless charging, the gear selector, iDrive controller, and driving dynamics controls.

The BMW 218i Gran Coupé M Sport comes with a myriad of important features. They include Lane Change Warning, Crossing Traffic Warning at the rear, Rear Collision Warning, Active Park Distance Control, Forward Collision Warning with brake intervention function, and Speed Limit Assist. These assistance systems are meant to ensure that you have the best possible experience on the road.

Available in Alpine White, Black Sapphire, Snapper Rock Blue, Storm Bay, and Melbourne Red, the BMW 218i Gran Coupé M Sport is priced at RM211,367.00. It will be available from 8 October 2020 with an interior that features black Leather Dakota upholstery. What are your thoughts on the vehicle?
