Breast Cancer Awareness Month: 6 Ways to show your support in KL this October
There are about 1.38 million new breast cancer cases each year; approximately 458,000 deaths—according to the World Health Organization. Regardless of race, gender, or creed, breast cancer is by far the most common cancer in women worldwide. Every October, countries across the world, including Malaysia, mark Breast Cancer Awareness Month. The objective—increase attention and support for early detection and treatment as well as palliative care.
Thousands of organisations all around the world highlight the importance of awareness through education and research. According to Breast Cancer Now, "it's important to get to know how your breasts normally look and feel so it will be easier to spot if there are any unusual changes for you". Here in Malaysia, National Cancer Council Malaysia (MAKNA), National Cancer Society Malaysia (NCSM), and Breast Cancer Welfare Awareness Malaysia (BCWA) are just some of the parties involved in support of the collective cause.
