4 running shoes to strap on for your next run

Nike Air Zoom Elite 8

Nike Air Zoom Elite 8

It looks great both on the track and off and the performance of the Zoom Air doesn’t disappoint. The lightest of the Zoom training family, the Nike Air Zoom Elite 8 is built in a minimalist, streamlined manner and doesn’t weigh your feet down. The lowered offset of eight millimeters of the shoe puts runners closer to the ground for more control while the top of the shoe combines Nike Flywire technology, no-sew overlays and lightweight mesh for a supportive, breathable fit.

The snappy responsiveness of Zoom Air cushioning comes from tightly-stretched tensile fibers woven inside a pressurized Nike Air unit. As you are running and your feet makes contact withthe ground, the fibers compress to cushion the impact before quickly snapping back to their original state. The result is a fast, cushioned ride whether the runner is out for a morning run or a marathon personal best.

Reebok Zpump Fusion

Reebok ZPump Fusion

It’s a compact shoe made out of just three components: the ZRated Outsole, which is inspired by high performance tires with edges and grooves that give the runner control when making turns; the Fusion Sleeve that envelopes the feet to provide cushioning and Pump technology, which comprises a customisable air-filled cage for locked-in custom fit and support. Just slip your feet into the shoes, use the pump button on each side to inflate air into a valve and into a cage in each shoe. The result is a firm grip about the feet which lasts until you deflate the shoe by pressing the button on a release valve.

Adidas Ultra Boost

Addias Ultra Boost

Taking the technology used by top engineering institutions like NASA, Boeing and BMW to measure crash tests, vibration analysis and durability studies, adidas has created the Ultra Boost shoe that adjusts to a runner’s stride. Its Stretch Web outsole adapts and stretches to foot movements and there is an entirely new heel construction that frees the natural movement of the Achilles tendon. A carefully tuned external heel counter comfortably cradles the foot and adapts to the high extension of the Achilles. Another feature of the shoe is a dual-density TORSION® SYSTEM, embedded into the shoe’s base to give a more independent movement between heel and forefoot for superior stability and a smooth, more controlled run.

Under Armour Speedform Fortis

Known for their high-performance gear, the new SpeedForm Fortis is another shoe that is set to improve running performance. Featuring an ArmourVent mesh that covers the top of the shoe for breathability, and a cushioned 6mm footbed in the cavity of the midsole that molds to the foot and enhances support. Since the shoe is built for comfort with a charged cushioning for impact protection and a layer of Micro G foam, running long distances isn’t a problem since your feet will feel as light as air.
