The Exchange TRX has made its mark in the Kuala Lumpur cityscape, housing international luxury brands, local labels, a plethora of dining destinations, and so much more. In recent months, we’ve even seen the Malaysian debut of globally-renowned names within the mall, including Shake Shack, Golden Goose, and Maison Kitsuné.

Amidst all the excitement, we headed over to the mall to get a taste of what its food scene is all about and popped by five of its leading outlets: Tucker & Co., Amazonas, Hokkaido Table, Tipsy Flamingo, and Union Bistrot—each with its own distinctive character and cuisine. Read on to get acquainted with the five eateries and its offerings.

TUCKER & CO.

BURO Malaysia, The Exchange TRX Tucker & Co.

Tucker & Co. is an all-day deli that aims to fill your stomach and soul with its comfort food. Its menu includes sandwiches, steaks, grilled poultry, pastas, and more—perfect for anyone looking for a simple but fulfilling meal with soulful flavours. You can also get your fix of cold cuts and cheese here with its carefully-curated deli selection.

Tucker & Co’s Argentinian ribeye

We tried its signature Argentinian ribeye that was grilled to medium rare perfection and served alongside pea shoots and beef jus. Judging by our steak, if it’s one thing the Tucker & Co. team members know, it’s their way around the grill. Other standouts include its beef cold cuts platter, fried buttermilk chicken burger, and slipper lobster roll.

AMAZONAS

For all things fiery, check out Amazonas on Park Level. Inspired by the liveliness and vibrance of Latin America’s culture and cuisine, this restaurant serves a menu that is centred around sharing plates and themed cocktails.

Amazonas’ salmon salsa tartare

Fill your table with a variety of tacos, some plates of ceviche, and—of course—some Parilla grilled steaks for the ultimate experience. We particularly enjoyed its salmon salsa tartare too, which is a great option for those who want something refreshing. Finally, top off your experience with a round of its signature mezcal- or tequila-based cocktails such as the Flor de Piña and the Conquistador.

HOKKAIDO TABLE

BURO Malaysia, The Exchange TRX Hokkaido Table

Within Aurum Theatre’s space is Hokkaido Table, where Japanese and Italian flavours come to play. Its space is divided into two sections, one for its all-day restaurant menu and another for its omakase sushi bar. On both menus, you’ll find dishes from both cuisines that complement each other.

Hokkaido Table’s sashimi moriawase

Those who visit for the omakase experience will be treated to refined bites of Italian and Japanese origins such as a spinach-ricotta ravioli and a Hokkaido sea scallop in seafood consommé. On the other hand, diners in the restaurant can choose from a menu of seafood pastas, crafted sushi rolls, and more. While there, we sampled its sashimi moriawase, which would serve as a great starting course for any meal there.

TIPSY FLAMINGO

BURO Malaysia, The Exchange TRX Tipsy Flamingo

Step into Tipsy Flamingo and you’ll be swiftly transported to a pink lagoon. Located at the mall’s breezy Dining Terrace, this restaurant offers vibrant global cuisine with inflections of Singaporean and Malaysian flavours. Its space is decked out in hues of pink and blue, exuding the energy of a retro pool club.

As for food, you’ll be spoilt for choice as you browse through its dishes that are reminiscent of a modern beach club or poolside hangout. If you’re there for some small bites, try its Szechuan Mala karaage or cajun garlic fries. For bigger plates, go for its seared barramundi with dry laksa—which we got to enjoy—or a classic wok-fried beef kuey teow.

UNION BISTROT

BURO Malaysia, The Exchange TRX Union Bistrot

Combining Malaysia’s signature flavours with plates from around the world is Union Bistrot. Its menu aims to provide diners—both local and international—with new dining experiences that offer both quality and taste. With a menu that covers snacks, seafood, mains, and more, Union Bistrot is great for any meal, whether it be an elegant coffee break or a more filling meal.

While adventurous, its menu is tastefully curated with dishes that are both unique and delicious. Kick off your meal with some Mapas—a term the team coined to combine the words ‘Malaysian’ and ‘tapas’—such as beef tongue rendang carpaccio and satay croquette. For your mains, don’t miss out on its Chicken Wafflemak, which we got to dig into and immediately became fans of. To keep things exciting, you can opt for its Curiosity Menu, which only offers emojis as clues of the dishes to come, or the Degustation Menu for a more elevated experience.
