Ramadan is a special time of year for Muslims around the world—a period for fasting, prayer, and reflection. One of the highlights during this month is breaking fast with family and friends for iftar, and where better to do it than at one of the many esteemed restaurants and hotels in the Klang Valley that offer special Ramadan buffet menus catering to different tastes? Whether you’re looking for traditional Malay cuisine, international dishes, or fusion flavours, there’s sure to be a menu that will satisfy your cravings.

Grand Hyatt Kuala Lumpur is featuring two buffet experiences by guest chefs from Istanbul, Türkiye and Chennai, India for this year’s Ramadan offerings. First on the list is the wonderful offerings at JP Teres, where you can enjoy a delectable feast featuring a quintessential Malaysian spread with special BBQ and authentic Indian cuisine. Don’t miss the memorable laksa Kedah from the noodle station.

3. EQ Kuala Lumpur

Explore Malaysia’s rich and diverse flavours at Nipah, EQ this festive season as the culinary team’s Malay chef, Muhammad Hajral Lisarni, has prepared a gastronomic spread of traditional Malay food and innovative takes on Malaysian favourites. You can’t miss sampling EQ’s signature satay, kambing golek, and the array of classics such as Gulai Lemak Cili Padi Daging Salai, Nasi Beriani Kambing Batu Pahat and Som Som Gula Melaka. 4. Artisan’s Playground by Cookhouse

Take your tastebuds on a journey with Artisan’s Playground by Cookhouse’s all-you-can-eat spread featuring over 100 mouth-watering international cuisines under one roof. Highlights include grilled beef ribeye, leg of lamb, and chicken from the Josper Grill; piping hot pizzas with a plethora of toppings straight from the Stefano Ferrara Oven; fresh greens from the Farm to Table Salad Bar; fresh seafood; live-cooked paella; and British Fish and Chips.

5. Sheraton Petaling Jaya Hotel

Sheraton Petaling Jaya Hotel is offering two themed buffets for you to choose from this year. For a more traditional theme, go for Sajian Warisan at Feast; and for a Middle Eastern mix, try the Iftar Nusantara at the Grand Ballroom.

The Sajian Warisan buffet will take you down memory lane as Sous Chef Firdaus has curated a diverse menu of traditional flavours, including Sup Merah Temasik Bengkulu, a spicy and tangy soup made with bone marrow, oxtail, beef lung, beef tongue, beef tendon, and mutton; and Ayam Masak Lemak Rebung Tok Mizi, a family favourite of Chef Firdaus made with chicken, coconut milk, turmeric, chillies, and bamboo shoots. To add to that, there’s also a diverse selection of Middle Eastern specialties, sushi and sashimi, fresh seafood and other international fare to enjoy while being entertained by traditional music by a live ghazal ensemble.

Aside from that, Iftar Nusantara at the Grand Ballroom will take you on a gastronomic journey to the Middle East with its traditional music, intricate designs, and cutting-edge LED installations.  Break fast with a resplendent spread of traditional Malay flavours such as Rendang Daging and Bubur Lambuk, as well as Middle Eastern staples such as chicken Salona, hummus, shawarma, kunafa, sparrow’s nest baklava, and Chef Firdaus’ Whole-Roasted Ouzi Lamb.

6. The Chow Kit

The lavish Citarasa Malaya spread at The Chow Kit Kitchen & Bar begins with dates and sweet Malay kuih muih (Ube Seri Muka, Gula Melaka Indulgence, and Corn Custard Pudding), and is followed by charcoal-grilled Satay Ayam with a house-made sweet and spicy peanut sauce and Cucur Udang. Sup Gear Box Kambing and Roti Bakar—a Penang favourite—round out the starters, which are accompanied by a refreshing Pandan Lemongrass Cooler.

Dig in to the main courses, starting with Kedah’s famous Udang Sambal Petai Berlada and a smoky, grilled Johor-style Ikan Bakar marinated in a fragrant medley of laksa leaves, daun kaduk, ulam raja, selom, and candlenut sambal served with your choice of Nasi Ulam or Nasi Minyak. This is followed by Terengganu’s Daging Masak Gulai with potatoes and kerisik, as well as a coconut and turmeric glazed Ayam Percik Madu. Finish the meal with two of the best Malaysian desserts, Bubur Pulut Hitam and Sago Gula Melaka.

For a different kind of ‘buka puasa’ experience, try RasaNya Steamboat’s Ramadan buffet in collaboration with celebrity Chef Zam. This festive feast spotlights ​​a special recipe by the TV personality himself, dubbed ‘RahsiaNya’, which consists of slow-cooked chicken broth infused with fresh coconut water, chilli peppers and soybeans with a hint of fermented broad beans and tofu. To accompany the soup base, customers can select from a variety of buffet dishes spanning Kak Nya’s Specials, noodles or rice, butcher’s selections, fine seafood, vegetables, and drinks.
