Hani Eatery, Bangsar’s latest hidden café, presents a bright, warm space for early birds to get their morning cuppa coffee. It is characterised by white brutalist walls, wide windows for natural lighting, a coffee cum bar counter, and camping chairs for seats—checking the right boxes for the Instagram crowd. The café offers mainly desserts and drinks throughout the day, with matcha being a highlight on the menu. For those looking for brunch options, the kitchen also serves up a selection of rice bowls and noodles (don and udon) incorporating Japanese inspirations and ingredients after 10 o’clock in the morning.

Born in Langkawi, Cili Kampung recently opened its first outpost outside of the island, gaining instant among foodies in Kuala Lumpur. Famous for Negeri Sembilan cuisine, the menu stays true to its name with spice-laden dishes such as Ikan Tenggiri Asam Pedas, Squid Sambal Cili Api, and Prawns Masak Lomak. The verdant space evokes Langkawi’s natural rainforests, complete with rattan furniture and no lack of potted greens to transport guests into a tropical setting without leaving the city.

Coffee addicts looking to find a hangout spot outside of KL should check out Kopi Jiran, a lush garden café in Kajang. Opened just over a month ago on Merdeka Day, Kopi Jiran offers the friendly, laid-back atmosphere of a humble neighbourhood eatery with a serious passion for coffee. Specially brewed using a moka pot, the coffee beans are sourced from local roasteries and rotated on a monthly basis for curious caffeine consumers. Pair your coffee along with your pick from an assortment of croissants, scones and pastries for a classic breakfast fix.
