Feel the heat at Four Points by Sheraton KLCC’s Sichuan Kitchen

Hearty, bright, and packed with heat, hot pot is a staple in the Malaysian diet. With roots tracing all the way back to the Qing Dynasty, the dish’s history is as vibrant as the ingredients in the broth. Sichuan-style hot pot is arguably the most popular of its kind with its undeniable spice and richness.

While Kuala Lumpur’s restaurant landscape has no shortage of hot pot specialists, Four Points by Sheraton KLCC’s Sichuan Kitchen in the heart of the city sets itself apart with its pork-free Weekend Hot Pot Buffet. Curated by the restaurant’s chef Justin Song—who hails from Sichuan—the experience aims to bring the heat and flavour with its sumptuous spread of ingredients and signature broths. Read on to find out what you can expect during your meal.

THE BEST OF BROTHS

A broth can make or break a hot pot experience. Making up the base of the meal, a broth has to be incredibly flavourful and aromatic. At Sichuan Kitchen, there are five sumptuous broth options to choose from, each catering to different taste preferences. Its Sichuan Mala is the star of the show, made with a medley of spices and aromatics—including the infamous Sichuan peppercorn.

Those who like it mild and hearty can opt for the abalone broth that is packed with umami. Also bursting with umami is its truffle mushroom broth, which also promises an element of luxury to every spoonful. Meanwhile, the restaurant’s tomato broth is perfect for diners who love sweetness and warmth at the same time. Last but not least, the coconut chicken broth is a clear and savoury broth that goes perfectly with every ingredient.

INGREDIENTS GALORE

When it comes to ingredients, Sichuan Kitchen excels at providing an impressive array of options from seafood to sauces. The massive spread is presented in categories, making it easy to navigate so you don’t miss out on anything. Plus, if you’re visiting during dinner, you’ll get to indulge in additional premium ingredients such as scallops, sliced beef, and the restaurant’s signature fresh fish paste.

To start, head to its appetiser selection, which includes Sichuan-style cold dishes such as cucumbers in spicy sauce. Seafood lovers can choose from fresh prawns, red snapper fillets, squid slices, and clams. Meanwhile, those who prefer meat have options including beef rolls, lamb rolls, and spicy sliced chicken. To get in your greens, grab your favourite vegetables from the lineup, which includes baby cabbage, shinmei mushrooms, and nai pak. Other items on the menu include a range of meatballs, fish balls, and tofu.

For your carbs, you can pick from minute noodles, yee mee, and vermicelli. When it’s time for dessert, you can grab a plate of your favourite fruits or savour a bowl of the house specialty sweet treats like Sichuan ice jelly.

From now until 31 May 2024, you can enjoy 20 per cent off your meal for dine-in as part of the restaurant’s launch promotion. A group discount is also available for parties of 20 people or more.
