A roundup of the best Valentine’s Day menus in KL this year

Isn’t February such a busy month? If you’re not too busy feasting on yee sangs and auspicious Chinese dishes, why not switch gears for a more romantic affair? We believe Valentine’s Day doesn’t have to be celebrated with just an S.O. A best friend or a family member counts too! It’s also when restaurants pull up their sleeves to create some of the most romantic platings. Here are some of our favourites for this year’s Valentine’s Day.

1. Le Petit at Elements, TREC KL

At the top of our list is this little gem—Le Petit, which is also known as “The world’s smallest chef”. An innovative and immersive dining experience that originated in Belgium, it tells the story of a small animated chef that is projected using 3D project mapping technology onto the guests’ plates. In reality, though, the food here is created by Michelin-starred Chef Jeff Ramsey.

3. Gastro Sentral at Le Meridien Kuala Lumpur

You might recall seeing a series of Instagram Stories we did as a preview of Gastro Sentral’s Valentine’s Day menu. Each course is adorably given a name such as Love at First Bite for the appetiser (Soy Miso Japanese Hamachi Ceviche, Melon and Caviar, Lemony Cinnamon Potted Shrimps and Freshly Shucked Canadian Oysters with Yuzu) and Spring of Love for the main course.

The mains are split into for him (Beef Wellington with a Twist featuring a deconstructed 65-degrees roasted Angus beef) and for her (Fish ‘N’ Chips featuring a truffle-buttered roasted cod fillet). Both equally as satisfying, but the highlight for us, personally, is the dessert. The Banoffee Pie (with lavender ice cream and rose macaroon) was fragrant, rich and bold with flavours.

Adam & Eve’s Valentine’s Day 4-course set menu: RM420 nett per couple (RM500 nett per couple for booth seating)

4. Nobu Kuala Lumpur

Nobu KL has prepared an indulgent 7-course Valentine Omakase where clearly, a variety of colours are at play. From the plump cured salmon with caviar and beetroot gel (orange and red) to the freshwater prawn plated with butterfly pea flower dressing (blue) to truffle rice with spinach chazuke (green) to the vanilla cream pavlova encasing a rich strawberry jelly (yellow), it’s definitely one of their most beautiful omakase sets yet. Our favourite dish, however, would be the grilled wagyu beef and bottarga—the meat is velvety smooth on the palate and goes beautifully with the corn cream and dry miso popcorn (we secretly wish they would sell these on its own).

Date: 13 – 17 February 2019

Valentine Omakase: RM500++ per person

Upon arrival at your romantic candlelit dinner table, enjoy a glass of what they call a Rose Fairy cocktail before proceeding to a spread of Valentine’s Day-inspired dishes. Think Australian Black Angus Beef, Alaskan cod fillet as well as a white chocolate and raspberry jelly parfait.
