Viva la Italia: New Italian restaurants in town to try

Palazzo Viva

Spaghetti with buratta from Palazzo Viva

Located along the busy strip of Bangsar Baru’s Jalan Telawi 2, it’s a standout for its chic and minimalist decor, and the eye-catching display of desserts near the front, flown in from d&g patisserie in Venice. Seperate menus for breakfast, lunch and dinner are available – choices such as the classic eggs benedict and croque madame to start the day, before transitioning to pastas and mains for lunch and a wider selection for dinner including pizza, meat and daily tapas for dinner.

Palazzo Viva, No. 10 & 12, Jalan Telawi 2, Bangsar Baru, 59100 Kuala Lumpur. Find out more at http://palazzoviva.com

Livello Uno

Livello Uno's tiramisu

This cosy little restaurant on the first floor is former chef for Hit & Mrs in Bangsar and Feeka in downtown Kuala Lumpur, Mashad Pino’s own establishment. Cheerful murals decorate the walls and vibrant furniture give the place a fun vibe. Expect simple comfort food such as beef or chicken lasagne, carbonara, spaghetti and meatballs and fresh salads, which are subtle in flavours. Make sure to leave room for dessert as they make a deliciously rich tiramisu with coffee-soaked sponge fingers.

Livello Uno, 165A, First Floor, Jalan Aminuddin Baki, Taman Tun Dr Ismail, Kuala Lumpur. Open for lunch and dinner daily, closed on Tuesdays. Find out more at https://www.facebook.com/livellounokl

Fatto A Mano

Bacon and caramelised onion pizza

The sister restaurant of Yeast, which is located right next to it, prides itself on its offerings being rustic and handmade, which is true to its name since Fatto A Mano translates into ‘made by hand’. Some standouts in the menu include the Asparagi salad with asparagus, cherry tomatoes, ricotta, a soft boiled egg and a black olive tapernade, the proscuitto pizza with slices of smoky saltiness paired with arugula and the mac and cheese with a bolognese sauce twist. To finish off, have the Bombolini – miniature doughnuts filled with raspberry jam, vanilla custard and nutella.

Fatto A Mano, 22G Jalan Telawi 2, Bangsar Baru. For more information, follow https://www.facebook.com/fattoamanobangsar
