1. Bites Dessert Bar, Desa Park City

Bites Dessert Bar

This is Malaysia’s first conveyor belt dessert buffet spot! At the price of RM50, you can eat as much as you desire for 60 minutes. There are more than 50 varieties of bite-sized cakes, canapes, and ice cream. Expect a daily rotation of dessert options. Also, each paying customer gets a shot at the claw machine where you can win some cool prizes.

2. Machi Machi, Bukit Bintang

Machi Machi

According to the brand, Machi Machi “is a new generation of beverage shop that believes in taste, comfort, and art”. This will be the popular Taiwanese tea shop’s first outlet in Malaysia. Try the cheese tea—a combination of cold tea with a layer of milk and cream cheese foam. Oh, this is also that shop featured in one of Jay Chou’s music videos.

3. Nam, Damansara Heights

Nam

This restaurant is founded by the same team behind Kenny Hills Bakers, Kenny Hills Bistro, and Nourish. Here is where you should go for dishes with Vietnamese, Chinese, and French influences. Feast on selections such as the smoked salmon pâté, Sichuan salt-and-pepper squid, beef pho, grilled chicken banh mi, and poached free-range organic chicken.

4. Universal Bakehouse, Damansara Kim

Universal Bakehouse

Table & Apron has taken over Kedai Dobi Universal’s space (they ran for four decades). A massive portion of the Universal Bakehouse lot is filled with baking facilities where you can watch them knead, stretch, and fold. Try the sourdough slices with sea salt and French butter as well as assorted sourdough options on rotation including green apple and honey oats. This is a great spot if you’re into premium quality bread.

Located on the highest floor of the hotel (right at the heart of Kuala Lumpur), Sabayon is named after Sabayon Du Chalet, a must-have “dancing dessert” from the previous Swiss restaurant of Hotel Equatorial. The menu here showcases a contemporary take on classic concoctions. Helmed by Executive Chef Hans Boren, expect simple yet thoroughly executed dishes. With amazing view of the city skyline including the Twin Towers, Sabayon at EQ’s Sky51 is the place to go for an indulgent meal.

Housed in a building that’s been standing for 150 years, this establishment is where you go for the vibe of a kopitiam—but in a modern way. Try local fare such as nasi lemak, mee siam, Nyonya kuih, salted egg chicken rice, and petai pasta. This is a great spot to relax over traditional Asian meals and a cup of coffee.

7. Sassolino, Jalan Yap Kwan Seng

Sassolino

Sassorosso’s sister restaurant follows the pillars of Italian hospitality—great food, great drinks, and good old-fashioned fun. Sassolino is located in Star Boulevard KLCC and serves Italian dishes with a twist. For breakfast, get The Full Works; it comes with scrambled eggs, bacon, chicken or pork sausage, forest mushrooms, baked beans, roasted rosemary potatoes, grilled vine tomato, and toasted bread. There are also breakfast pizzas such as Fiorentina (mozzarella cheese, spinach, and sunny side up eggs) and Calzone (tomato sauce, mozzarella cheese, ham, scrambled eggs, and baked potatoes). You can also opt for these choices—Spaghetti Frutti Di Mare (seafood in light cherry tomato sauce), Porchetta (slow roasted pork belly) and Sassolino Pizza (with tiger prawns and sundried tomato).
