#WednesdayWishlist: Sparkle and glitter

Jason Lim, Fashion Editor: Gold, diamond and ebony bead bracelet by Luis Morais

I am drawn to things that will age beautifully: objects that tell stories with every scar and fade. So objects that sparkle or shine don’t tend to be high on any of my wish lists, but the natural colour of the beads contrasted with the gold and subtle glimmer of the diamonds is pretty alright by me. The sparkly part can be worn on the inside of my wrist—a little bit of luxe only I’ll ever know about.

Loh Wei Yeen, Fashion & Beauty Writer: Look 33 from Sonia Rykiel Spring/Summer 2016

Pulling off a full-body sequined outfit for the ultimate sparkle-and-glitter effect might not float everyone’s boats, especially when you risk looking like your favourite aunt you meet in every family gathering. But for some reason, I can see myself putting on this densely-sequined column dress from Sonia Rykiel SS16 for a glamorous NYE rooftop party. I don’t know if it’s the equally sparkly runway that’s adding to the visual appeal, but I love how it makes a full-blown, sophisticated statement without being overly brash.

Tan Su Fen, Editorial Assistant: Demi Metallic Slip-On Sneakers by Jimmy Choo

Rather than an all-out glitter affair, I really love the demi metallic hue of these slip-ons by Jimmy Choo. The dulled, foil-effect sparkle gives it a pared back appeal, while the sneaker form is the epitome of laid-back sensibility, making them the perfect comfy kicks to punctuate a lazy weekend ensemble (or a Christmas party, because how else can you add an element of contrast to an otherwise girly frock?)

Jessica Fang, Culture Writer: A glass (or bottle) of Dom Perignon P2 1998

When you think of sparkles, what better way to go past aesthetics than a bottle of sparkling wine—or more specifically, fine champagne? It was a rare and special occasion that I once got to have a taste of the luxurious Dom Perignon vintage P2 1998. It was sublime. It is by no exaggeration that this wine had been marketed as “an energetic and different expression of the Dom Perignon Vintage. The product of the secret alchemy of time.” Aromatic, fresh and radiant on the palate, I would love to one day be able to have just one more affair with this sublime sparkling wine.
