Alia Bastamam
Alia Bastamam continues to push the envelope for Raya design and dressing with an Eid 2022 collection that segues seamlessly from Raya to Resort. Signature Alia silhouettes are rendered in bold colours and clean lines that take reference from the designer’s background in architecture, as well as the compelling figurative works of artist Rosie McGuiness. Alongside sarong ensembles and three-piece looks that go from modest to a bikini coverup, the 24-look collection is grounded in a modern-traditional sensibility to introduce key looks like the Sweater-cut Kurung, a Kurung Kedah top with keyhole details and raglan sleeves in vivid pleats.

For Raya this year, Khoon Hooi has created a bespoke collection of festive collection that celebrates the culture of protagonist Datin Lee with a contemporary twist. In tribute to her part-Nyonya roots, the eponymous designer unveils an array of printed Baju Kebayas embellished with brooches in the form of florals and safety pins, alongside a selection of statement-making pieces perfect for the social season. Silhouettes draw from tradition while striking details give each look the wow factor, from bold hues of fuschia and red to black-on-black, to fluffy feathers, dramatic puff sleeves and intricate crystal embellishments peppered over the bodice.
