Oscar de la Renta’s exhibition opens in the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston
Glamour and romance
Oscar de la Renta got the exhibition treatment first last year with a retrospective of his work showcased at de Young—a fine arts museum located in San Francisco. A year later, another exhibition of the late designer’s work has made its debut at the Museum of Fine Arts in Houston, but what’s different, is the never-before-seen pieces that were sourced from different archives and personal collections. Named The Glamour and Romance of Oscar de la Renta, the 70-piece installation—ranging from day to eveningwear—will be presented according to four themes starting with Spain where the designer started his eponymous label, and they’re all curated by André Leon Talley.
There has been a lot of buzz surrounding the exhibition thanks to one of the pieces presented—Amal Clooney’s wedding gown which was the last bridal dress that Oscar designed before he passed away. Aside from the loan from Mrs. Clooney, Beyoncé has also lend several key pieces to the showcase, alongside the exquisite gowns worn by other A-listers such as Penelope Cruz, Kirsten Dunst and Karlie Kloss on red carpets. We can already imagine how stunning each ensemble will look against the display of artwork at the museum. Oscar de la Renta’s work (from his half a century in the industry) is definitely museum-worthy art.
