Introducing the new face of Kenzo: Britney Spears

Following last year’s launch of its La Collection Memento N°1—a special capsule inspired by the Kenzo archives, creative directors Carol Lim and Humberto Leon are back with the second drop this season, with a line of pieces that is inspired by Kenzo Jeans. Launched during Paris Fashion Week in 1986, the denim collection sees the brand’s now-iconic motifs such as the tiger and the Great Wave of Kanagawa peppered throughout. In conjunction with the launch of La Collection Memento N°2, the duo got pop icon, and queen of denim (according to Humberto) to be the face of the campaign. Can you believe that Britney Spears has never fronted a campaign since her Candie shoot in mid ’00s?

Shot by fPeter Lindbergh, the shoot was a special affair, as the famed photographer’s very first commercial campaign when he started out was with the brand’s founder Kenzo Takada, not to mention this is his very first time working with Britney. The series of images includes one of the star flaunting her lower back tattoo in a cropped sweater and mini red backpack, one in an all-denim ensemble (2001 American Music Awards, anyone?), and also a full floral look that strikes the right balance between girly and sporty.
