After an 8-year tenure, Humberto Leon and Carol Lim will be exiting the Paris-based brand. The co-creative directors took up the lead creative roles in 2011 and have been credited for leading Kenzo into the digital age. During their tenure, they revived the embroidered tiger from the archives and modernised it into the popular logo sweater, collaborated with H&M for a more affordable collection, collaborated with the likes of David LaChapelle and Spike Jonze for fun and quirky campaigns and not forgetting, naming Britney Spears as the face of the brands’s La Collection Memento N°2.
The two will present their final collection on 23 June during Paris Men’s Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2020 and is scheduled to take place at AccorHotels Arena (we anticipate a big farewell party). Kenzo CEO Sylvie Colin says in the official statement, “Humberto and Carol consistently brought diversity and inclusion to the forefront at Kenzo, using their collections, fashion shows, advertising, and special projects to engage and galvanize a new generation of creative.”
Leon and Lim will officially relinquish their roles on 1 July and will concentrate on Opening Ceremony, the contemporary label the design duo founded in 2002. Kenzo has yet to name their successors, stay tuned for updates!
