Gucci to show its SS19 collection at Paris Fashion Week

This upcoming Paris Fashion Week, Gucci will be bringing its usual fanfare of a spectacular show set and an equally intriguing collection from Milan to the French capital as a denouement to “a three-part homage to France,”  spearheaded by the brand’s creative director, Alessandro Michele. But Milan-based fashion clientele needn’t fret over missing out, as Gucci will be staging an exclusive event at the Gucci Hub on September 19 during Milan Fashion Week.

“Gucci is a global brand with deep and vibrant Italian roots and a visionary French shareholder, Kering,” says Marco Bizzarri, president and chief executive officer of Gucci. “When Alessandro told me of his desire to present the new collection in Paris — continuing the French-inspired narrative — I thought it was a perfect way to continue the creative homage to France.”

The prelude of this tribute began with Gucci’s Pre-Fall 2018 ad campaign that was inspired by the May 1968 student occupations and general strikes in France, with photographer Glen Luchford capturing Gucci-wearing models at a university campus, ardently declaring their rights. But before the Spring 2019 show takes place, all eyes are on Gucci’s Cruise 2019 show that will be held this May 30 on the Promenade Des Alyscamps, a vast Roman necropolis and UNESCO world heritage site located in Arles, south of France. Stay tuned for updates.
