Shot in a private manor in New York City by Steven Meisel, the newly-appointed artistic director, Clare is staying clear from her sweet and feminine roots at Chloé. Instead, she’s opting for a dark and mysterious route for its Autumn 2017 campaign, which serves as a prelude of what’s to come under her direction.

Titled “Transformation Seduction”, the black and white images feature a curated selection of new faces—a different approach from their Spring/Summer 2017 campaign with top models such as Irina Shayk and Mariacarla Boscono. Inspired by Givenchy’s silk prints from the ’50s featuring a cat with orange eyes, Clare translates the founder of the brand, Hubert de Givenchy, and her love for animals by incorporating cats into the campaign (in custom Givenchy collars, no less).

“I love the idea of a woman with a feline air. A person may seem slightly reserved, but they have the serene, straightforward gaze. They’re seductive. You want to meet them, know more about them, and be like them. I wanted to play with that modern attitude and expression because I feel like it’s an apt metaphor for Givenchy’s current evolution”, says Clare.

Until then, stay tuned for the full campaign in September, and Clare’s debut collection (for both men’s and women’s) during Spring/Summer 2017 Paris Fashion Week.
