Everything you need to know about fashion designer Alexander Wang’s sexual assault allegations
You know what they say: New Year, New Me, though that isn’t necessarily the case for American designer and fashion darling Alexander Wang, who has been embroiled in an alleged sexual assault scandal.

What happened
It all started when model Owen Mooney posted a series of videos on TikTok saying that Alexander Wang groped him at a nightclub in 2017. “I was by myself at one point, and this guy next to me obviously took advantage of the fact that no one could fucking move, and he just started touching me up, like, fully up my leg, in my crotch,” Mooney said in the video. “And then I looked to my left to see who it was, and it was a really famous fashion designer, and I just couldn’t believe that he was doing that to me.” He revealed Wang’s name in a subsequent post.
The post opened a can of worms, as shortly after, eight other male and trans models shared similar sexual assault allegations against the designer. Fashion industry watchdogs Diet Prada and Shit Model Management picked up and compiled the stories, and shared them on their Instagram accounts.

On the same day, New York-based advocacy group The Model Alliance posted a message of solidarity with Wang’s accusers.

Amidst all this, attorney Lisa Bloom reached out to Shit Model Management to offer her service and help represent the victims. If her name rings a bell, she was the same attorney who advised Harvey Weinstein during his sexual abuse allegations, and she also represented the women whose sexual harassment claims led to the firing of Bill O’Reilly from Fox News.
The designer’s response
Three days after the posts made waves across social media (and the fashion industry), Wang responded to the allegations via The New York Times, saying, “Over the last few days, I have been on the receiving end of baseless and grotesquely false accusations. These claims have been wrongfully amplified by social media accounts infamous for posting defamatory material from undisclosed and/or anonymous sources with zero evidence or any fact-checking whatsoever.”
Fast forward to Tuesday, the designer released an official statement on his personal Instagram account denying all allegations. Read what he has to say below:
