2021 was the year of NFTs (read our 101 guide here), and the fashion world just can’t get enough of it. You’ve probably seen the news clippings of how NFTs have been raking in millions, with one of the largest sales so far coming from famed digital artist Beeple, whose work sold for US$69 million on Christie’s. With the rise of digital fashion and the pandemic contesting that we do indeed spend more time in the virtual world nowadays, fashion’s move into the metaverse was only a matter of time.
What’s the appeal, you may ask? Physical fashions, however tangible and essential they may be, has limitations. Digital fashion on the other hand, opens up a completely new field of prospects.
