Get a first look at the Coach & Rodarte collection

One of the reasons to get excited for the Coach & Rodarte collection? It is not everyday you come across a collaboration between two fashion brands—designer x brand is a more common sighting, as well as sports x fashion label pairings. On top of that, here are two brands that are distinctively different. On one hand you have Coach, the iconic, heritage-rich American house of leather based in New York; on the other there is Rodarte, a Los Angeles label founded by sisters Kate and Laura Mulleavy, known for their typically dark romantic aesthetic with a touch of whimsy. The former celebrated its 75th anniversary in 2016, while the latter turned 10 in the same year.

When the two brands come together, you get a collaboration you never knew you needed. With Stuart Vevers at the helm of the creative department, Coach has been flaunting a cool new identity in recent years—not forgetting its leather expertise, of course. Coupled with Rodarte’s bold yet dreamy touches, and the result is a collection that includes biker jackets, eyelet dresses and statement bags.

“We love how Coach believes in American luxury and craftsmanship. We also their incredible archive and the imaging of the brand over the years,” says Kate and Laura Mulleavy. Vevers added: “Rodarte’s conceptual approach to American style was the perfect lens to reimagine nostalgic Coach pieces. The mash-up influences resulted in a romantic cool collection that feels right for both houses.”
