Joining the likes of brands such as Burberry, Gucci and Bottega Veneta, Balenciaga is now the latest fashion house to hop on the co-ed bandwagon. Starting from the Fall 2018 season, the brand will be combining both womenswear and menswear into one collection while expanding the offerings for the latter. Balenciaga will be offering four men’s collection per year, with two pre-collections being showcased by-appointment-only during Men’s Fashion Week. While there isn’t any official statement from artistic director Demna Gvasalia on his decision to go co-ed, the move will no doubt help to present a more unified brand identity, especially in this “increasingly gender-blurry world”.
