Maleficent may be an evil villain on-screen, but love her or hate her, one thing we can’t deny, is her killer (no pun intended) costumes in the films, including her signature cape-and-horn looks. During the recent premieres of the Maleficent: Mistress of Evil in particular, Angelina Jolie has been making her international rounds in looks that would make her on-screen character proud. Aside from the photocall in Rome earlier this month where she made an appearance in a lavender Givenchy Haute Couture get-up, she amped up the edge with outfits in monochrome hues that, like Maleficent, were equal parts feminine and edgy.
Our favourites from the press tour so far were those that are inspired by her on-screen counterpart. Case in point: The one-shoulder Atelier Versace dress that had a scorpion brooch on its waist was fit for a villain, while at the event in Rome, the actress wore a strapless gown—that were entirely covered with micro sequins—had piping accents that gave off an illusion of a smaller waist. The Ralph & Russo Couture gown she wore to the London premiere came with an embellished cape, a metallic bustier and sharp shoulder pads—all the same details from the Disney villain’s costumes.
