A full look at the second Uniqlo x JW Anderson collection—out now

Following a successful first collection, Uniqlo has now launched its second collaboration with JW Anderson, and the Spring/Summer 2018 pieces—inspired by Britain’s Brighton Beach—is all about celebrating the ’50s heydays of the popular attraction during summer. A vibrant and colourful city, the line consists of soft tones and bright hues (yellow and blue, for example, are inspired by picnic baskets), resulting in a versatile colour palette. Design-wise, stripes and patchwork prints are the mainstay of the collection, and fans of the brand can expect its signature ruffles and ribbons on shirts and skirts. Aside from the casual separates, workwear elements are also incorporated in the form of ’50s-vibe denim jackets (made from prestigious Kaihara denim from Japan) and shirts which are inspired by the traditional British police uniforms. Our favourite? The seagull print that gave the collection that bit of whimsy touch, peppered on T-shirts that is all about celebrating the joy of British seaside life.

In the second collection of the collaboration, I’m looking for this idea of ‘British Summer,’ the idea of being on the Brighton beach. Something which is very lightweight, very airy, with a lot of linen, and cotton that has a 1950’s subcultural movement. With a little bit of ease and something which is quintessential. As a Uniqlo customer, I know exactly the quality that the brand gives to its products. I am very proud of the level of execution and the attention to details that we delivered on this new spring/summer collection.” — JW Anderson
