Peach Fuzz: Elevate your fashion game with wardrobe staples in Pantone’s 2024 Colour of the Year

Pantone has declared Peach Fuzz 13-1023 as the Color of the Year for 2024. Nestled between pink and orange on the colour wheel, this gentle peach stands in stark contrast to its forerunner, Viva Magenta, as it emanates a sense of kindness and tenderness. According to the Pantone Colour Institute, the decision to crown this clean, vintage-inspired peach as this year’s ultimate hue was driven by a desire to spotlight the importance of community and the act of coming together with others.

“It needed to be a colour whose warm and welcoming embrace conveyed a message of compassion and empathy,” says Laurie Pressman, Vice President of the Pantone Colour Institute, in a statement. True enough, it’s a subtle, warm shade that signifies unity and the shared human experience, making it more than just a colour choice for the year—it’s a symbol of togetherness.

Within the fashion sphere, designers have embraced Peach Fuzz with open arms, integrating it into their collections in inventive and unexpected ways. Runways are adorned with a spectrum of garments, spanning from graceful evening gowns to laid-back streetwear, each highlighting the versatility of the captivating colour.

For SS24, Balmain captures its essence with an off-shoulder pleated mini dress with rose petal details, while Alaïa embraces the colour from head to toe, featuring a look with a clear trench coat, knee-length skirts and slingbacks in its collection. On the other hand, Patou opts for a blazer and asymmetrical skirt, while Missoni introduces a see-through dress in the enchanting shade.

In addition to clothing, accessories have not been left untouched by the Peach Fuzz craze. Handbags and shoes are now adorned with this delightful colour, adding a subtle touch of warmth and vibrancy to everyday ensembles. On the runway, key pieces include Denzil Patrick’s peach-coloured trunks as well A.P.C’s caps that perfectly complement its shirt in a matching shade.
