There’s been much ado about anti-fashion fashion trends. Case in point: The chunky sneaker, bike shorts and the current article of clothing in question-the fisherman bucket hat. It first popped up on our radar in Spring/Summer 2016 by way of BCBGMaxAzria’s patchwork bucket hats but the trend only started catching on in full throttle this 2018. Gosha Rubchinsiy kicked off the year with Burberry’s famous checks for the designer collaboration followed by Jonathan Anderson’s denim versions for his second collection with Uniqlo.
For Spring/Summer 2019, Phillip Lim takes a jab at the fisherman’s friend. Traditionally made from heavy-duty fabrics, Lim stays true to the original with fabrications in khaki but adds an updated sartorial spin in metallic silver, clean white and multicoloured hippie florals. Designed with the nomadic traveller in mind, the icing on the cake of this accessory would have to be the bone-coloured rope ties with its ends frayed—the perfect addition to your new summer (vacation) look.
