Breaking news: Colette to close its doors after 20 years

Known as one of the trendiest fashion stores in Paris, the three-storey space has always been a pit-stop for fashion fans and the ‘It’ crowd, thanks to its well-edited mix of items, from gadgets to kitchenware and emerging designer labels. Besides that, the shop has always been a go-to for exclusive launches and book signings.

Colette

The move no doubt came as a surprise to many, when the brand took it to Instagram to announce the news earlier today, “As all good things must come to an end, after 20 wonderful years, Colette should be closing its doors on December 20th of this year. Colette Roussaux has reached the time when she would like to take her time, and Colette cannot exist without Colette.”

The Colette website will also be closing down, and they’re currently in talks with French brand, Saint Laurent to take over its Rue Saint-Honoré location. “Negotiations are under way with Saint Laurent and we would be proud to have a brand with such a history, with whom we have frequently collaborated, taking over our address. We are happy of the serious interest expressed by Saint Laurent in this project, and it could also represent a very good opportunity for our employees.”

The store will officially close its doors on the 20th of December, and until then, it will be business as usual.  “Colette will continue to renew itself each week with exclusive collaborations and offerings, also available on our website Colette.fr.”

Stay tuned for more updates.
