New month, new bags: December’20 edition—from Fendi, Prada, and more

Following last month’s launches which include bags from Chanel, Saint Laurent, Dior, and more, ahead of the year-end festivities, a few of our favourite fashion houses have unveiled their latest designs that you really shouldn’t miss. Regardless of whether you’d like to treat yourself to a new accessory to celebrate surviving 2020, or you’re looking for a fail-proof Christmas gift for your loved ones, check out our December 2020 roundup below.

Fendi Pack

Is it a carrier? Is it a box? No, it’s the Fendi Pack bags that are inspired by the fashion house’s packaging. First made its debut during the Men’s Autumn/Winter 2020 runway (and subsequently, women’s), the shoppers are not only some of the most talked-about designs during Fashion Month—they’re one of the biggest bag trends this season too.

With the Fendi Roma logo emblazoned right at the centre, the unisex collection comes in two distinct colours—the signature Fendi yellow and a demure powder pink—and in an array of structured and soft shapes.

Prada Cleo

The Prada Re-Edition Nylon bags are arguably the brand’s hottest-selling design this year, but lo and behold—a serious contender has emerged, and it’s called the Cleo. Inspired by archival Prada styles, the sleek and polished shoulder bag is “a synthesis of classicism and futurism”, and it exudes both vintage charm and modern allure.

If you need more reason to say yes to the bag, the arm candy—that made its first appearance during the brand’s Multiple Views SS21 presentation, and later, during the Women’s SS21 runway—is one of the first accessories to come out of Miuccia Prada and Raf Simons’s co-creative direction.

Valentino Garavani Roman Stud

Zendaya was recently announced as the new face of Valentino, and in the imagery, she was photographed carrying the Valentino Garavani Roman Stud bags—the latest offering from the Italian Maison. Described as “a dialogue between classic and punk subculture design”, the arm candy is crafted from lambskin Nappa leather, and finished off with distinctive maxi studs that are inspired by the details on ancient Roman architecture. The piece in emerald green is our favourite.

Bottega Veneta The Clip

The Pouch, the Cassette, and the Jodie are some of the It-bags as of late, but Bottega Veneta has a new accessory that has our full attention. Enter The Clip, a compact and boxy carrier from the brand’s Wardrobe 01 (aka Resort 2021) collection. The streamlined design is elevated with a metal hardware that gives it a touch of sophisticated shine.

Coach Swinger

Following the release of the Hutton bag that was designed in collaboration with Jennifer Lopez, this month, Coach is taking us on a trip down memory lane with a bag that’s an ode to the brand’s archival ’80s design, and a campaign that brings us back to one of our favourite eras—the early ‘00s. Dubbed the Swinger, the shoulder bag is now part of The Coach Originals collection. Featuring the brand’s iconic turnlock closure, the piece is available in two materials (Glovetanned leather and the brand’s signature monogram canvas), and it comes with a detachable strap for you to wear it as a crossbody.
