In the works: K-pop star Tae Yang’s capsule collection for Fendi

It seems like the K-pop wave isn’t receding anytime soon. Hardcore fans of South Korean boyband Big Bang, prep yourselves for Fendi’s collaboration with Tae Yang, aptly called “Fendi for Young Bae“—a nod to the superstar’s birth name Dong Young-bae. The first of its kind from the Italian maison, this capsule collection will comprise of apparel and accessories, from jackets and tee shirts to backpacks and sneakers. A notable element of the lineup is the usage of words, echoing a similar sentiment to Fendi Men’s Autumn/Winter 2017 collection.

“Words like ‘Think’, ‘Faith’, and ‘Grace’ compose the Fendi Vocabulary—very simple and common words that yet in their simplicity have a very important meaning that is going to be forever and that can help us in difficult moments,” says creative director Silvia Venturini Fendi.

Tae Yang lends his hand in design along with his ethos to the collection, including the daisy as a key motif (incidentally his favourite flower) and words such as “Truth”, “Passion” and “Saved” emblazoned over key charms and clutches. The all-black colour palette (Tae Yang’s favourite shade) allows the details and textures to stand out in a subtle way as well. Fendi for Young Bae is available for pre-order on fendi.com from early July onwards, and at Fendi Pavilion KL this September 1.
