Two generations of Fendi tell us why the iconic Peekaboo bag is special to them
A family story
When it comes to heirloom-worthy items that are passed down through generations within a family‚ luxury accessories often take a spot on the list thanks to its priceless value. A fine example would be a classic handbag from a heritage-rich fashion house — the value of these often go beyond hefty price tags (you can’t really replace precious memories nor replicate the lovely patina of a vintage leather bag‚ after all). With this in mind‚ Fendi is celebrating the 10th anniversary of its iconic Peekaboo bag by shining light on the emotional kinship that it gives to the owner.
In the film campaign below‚ Silvia Venturini Fendi, the company’s creative director for accessories, men’s wear and kids’ wear, and her daughters Delfina Delettrez Fendi and Leonetta Luciano Fendi share their thoughts on the Peekaboo while letting us sneak a peek into the intimate relationship between the bag and themselves. According to Silvia Venturini, “It’s one of those objects that you want to belong to your family, that will really stay with you for all your life”. Shot in Rome at the Fendi headquarters in Palazzo della Civiltà Italiana‚ the video also features various interpretations and variants of the Peekaboo styled alongside the mother and daughters, from the fun-sized Micro Peekaboo to the new-season Peekaboo Essentially.
